2 From the Pastor s Desk Grace to You and Peace from God our Heavenly Father, The Christmas glow is still fresh in my mind, as I sit and type this letter. The Christmas event is at the end of the year, but it is not the end. Christmas is actually a new beginning. In that manger we find the source of our new life with God. Unto YOU is born this day a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. The angelic message of so long ago, resounds in our hearts and minds to refresh and renew us, but also to give us resolution. Ah, there s that word you were expecting, the New Year s resolution, great in the beginning, but fading quickly until forgotten. Do you remember any of your resolutions from last year? How long will the resolutions you make this January 1 st, last in 2019? Here s a challenge for you. Write down your resolutions and seal them in an envelope. Then on January 1, 2020, open that envelope back up and see what you did with that resolution. Beyond the Christmas Celebration, this time of year is for me a time to look at what was done in the past year in the church and to evaluate the successes, and the shortcomings. The major change was a shift in jobs and a new beginning of its own. Seven months ago, Shelley and I joined the Christ The King family. I personally thank each of you for all that you have done to make my transition here a smooth and comfortable transition. Our welcome has been amazing, and we feel so loved. We have enjoyed our time here and look forward to a great future in this family. Looking at the year which draws to a close, God has increased our family here at CTK, God has given us new ministry focuses, God has continued His blessings upon us in Word, Worship, and Fellowship. We have seen renewed activities, and a new spirit of life among the family members. Worship attendance has increased, Bible Study attendance has increased, Ladies Aid projects have been successful, our Preschool is at capacity, the attitude of the members is refreshed. God has blessed us through this year. Challenges still exist for CTK, as well as, other churches. We are still falling short in our outreach to the community, we have a huge hole in the high school age bracket, with little to no activity for these members of our family. There are ongoing struggles with the budget, there is the constant challenge of the distractions from the world, which seek to intrude upon our dedication and devotion to God. We have much work yet to do, and with the Lord s blessings we shall prevail. In looking to the future, I look along three lines: Worship, Word and Fellowship. Sometimes different labels are applied to these three, and it matters but a little which title we choose. Worship: I think a big resolution here is to get back to the 2-service schedule. This will be a challenge as numbers need to increase, but I see it in the foreseeable future. I would also like to consider different styles in worship services, in order to reach more people. This is the most visible of our assets from God. Word: The two Bible studies that occur on campus each week have seen great success this past year. I would like to see two more Bible studies start up. I would also like to see a few small group studies start up off campus. Fellowship: I would like to see more participation in the fellowships/social activities here at CTK. This is how we build each other up and strengthen one another. It sits alongside Worship and Word, as God works in our personal lives to bless and be a blessing to others. I would like to see more group social activities, like the Women s night out events. This could be expanded to other types of people in the congregation. (Get the hint gentlemen?) We need to pray and think about the youth of our family and how we can help them be more involved with church and with each other. These are thoughts and dreams, my thoughts and dreams. 4 Christ The King Train Exhibition, December 16th Several members came out to display their trains of all different scales from Z Scale 1:220 up to G Scale 1:22.5. A great time was had by all reliving the memories of seeing trains run around the Christmas Tree.

5 Fellowship Betty Dorsey A special thank you to the hosts and hostesses for our Fellowship hours on Sundays at 10:15 AM for the month of November. We appreciate everyone s hard work and baking expertise. Our January servers are: 1/06 Judy Moreau 1/13 Open (Host Only) 1/20 Open (Host Only) 1/27 Open (Host Only) Please consider hosting a Fellowship on Sunday. We still have a couple Sundays available this month. For those Sundays marked Host Only, you would only have to serve the baked goods from Publix that are in the refrigerator. We really need your help as a host! It s fun and an excellent time to socialize and meet church members. The sign-up sheet is located in Barnabas Hall. Ladies of CTK Saturday, January 5th, from 12:00 2:00 PM Doris Druid has graciously offered to host a brunch at her home in Ocoee (738 Vergini Dr., Ocoee 34761) to help reduce the doldrums that can occur after the holidays. Theme of the brunch will be Bring Your Sunshine. Please bring your favorite dish to share. There is a sign-up sheet on the center table in the narthex. WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all who joined us in our Advent mission project in support of Rev. Mark Rabe, teaching in the seminary in Ethiopia. Your donations and prayers are so very much appreciated. THANK YOU also go to all who either donated baked gods or purchased goods from our Christmas Sale. The proceeds are going towards purchasing some new tables for Barnabas Hall and to our mission project in support of Rev. Mark Rabe. RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE TOILETRY KITS: The Ronald Mc Donald House relies on donations from the community. They deliver comfort and hope to families dealing with the tragedy of their child s illness, and no family is turned away because they cannot pay the $20 a night suggested donation. Women on The King s Mission (LWML) is once again asking for any contributions of the travel size shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath soap, tooth paste and tooth brushes for the toiletry kits. Thank you for your donations for these kits. Please place in the Bride s Room off the narthex. Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 15, in Barnabas Hall at 10:00am. Please join us for a short devotion from Pastor Tim and our discussions of future plans.
