PRAYER ABOUT MISSIONS HIGHLIGHTING OUR MISSIONS GIVING Rev. Manasseh Argwings Masiza is the leader of the Light and Life FMC of Uganda. He wrote us a letter recently thanking us for our contributions in the way of country shares to the FMC in Uganda. He and his wife were commissioned in 2001 to plant the FMC in Uganda. To date they have established 4 churches. Rev. Masiza tells us the greatest need was to train church leaders. Currently they conduct 3 sessions a year for training in the town of Jinja where he is located. Our support has been instrumental in assisting with this training and with the church plants. God's work is alive and well as the FMC expands in Uganda. OTHER MISSION NEWS AFRICA--Rwanda: Two doctors have recently been hired at Kibogora Hospital. They are assigned to the NICU along with a new graduate from medical school. Pray for these new staff members and for Julie Yerger as they learn each other's routines and decide which way of treating premature and sick infants is the best based on the research available. ASIA--FMWM is pleased to announce the appointment of Seth and Hlawn Hlawn Van Tifflin, who will serve in development and church planting, locating in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They anticipate leaving for the field sometime in The Van Tifflins have established an orphan ministry in Myanmar, In Better Hands, which operates five children's homes serving 32 children. Pray for Asia Area Director Eric and Virginia Spangler who will be traveling in Asia from September 28
3 through October 11 to oversee work in Hong Kong, Myanmar and Nepal. Taiwan: Pray for the people of Taiwan. Typhoon Dujuan pounded the island with heavy rain and powerful winds on September 28, Monday night, killing three people and leaving hundreds injured. FMWM has received no word of FM injuries. EUROPE--Portugal: Pray for the many new converts to grow in their faith and for cell group leaders to continue to bring people to Jesus. Also pray seminary students will be ready to plant churches soon. Immigration Crisis in Europe - Focus on Bulgaria: Refugees have been coming into Bulgaria from the bordering country of Turkey for more than two years - more refugees than the country can handle. Pray for the church in Bulgaria as they strive to serve and build long-term connections with the refugees. In addition to meeting physical needs, the Bulgaria team is assessing ways to minister spiritually to the Arab-speaking refugee population. MISSIONS FAMILY- Pray for Jonathan Gomez, son of Ricardo and Beth Gomez, who is undergoing medical testing. VISA MINISTRIES Pray for these teams and individuals: Howard Weston and Jim Donnelson, from Arlington FMC (Arlington, WA), will work on construction projects with the Friends of Haiti Organization (FOHO) in Haiti from October 5 to October 27. A team from Island FMC (Sumner, IL), led by Mike Richardville, will join in working on FOHO construction projects from October 6 through October 16. Larry Light from New Hope FMC (Rochester, NY) will lead a team of six to work with Ken and Letty Myers in Kenya from October 6 to October 23. Ben Hollamby from Creekside FMC (Allegany, NY) is assisting with leadership and discipleship training with J.R. Crouse in Peru. He will return October 9. INTERNATIONAL CHILD CARE MINISTRIES- Praise the Lord for the local staff who organized a milk program for International Child Care Ministries (ICCM) children in Rushashi, Rwanda. These special needs children are thrilled to have milk to drink which adds nutrition to their diets.
