On this day we want everyone to make a special effort to invite family members and friends to be with us for Bible School and Worship. A meal will be planned after services. Our goal will be 400 that morning! Start right now spreading the word so that people can plan on being here with us on this special occasion. Your invitation could change the destiny of someone s soul! Never underestimate the power of a personal invitation. New adult Wednesday night classes start on the 14 th. See a full listing of classes elsewhere in this bulletin. Thanks again to all of our men who spoke in our Summer Series, you did great work! Wednesday night is a wonderful time in the middle of the week to assemble and study God s Word together. Come on out and enjoy these new classes and the fellowship of your church family. Overcoming the Fear Factor will be our Sunday morning sermon. Sunday will be the 10 th anniversary of the worse terrorist attack our country has ever suffered. At the heart of terrorism is fear. How do we cope with fear? What fears demand our utmost attention? Let s think about these things together opening our Bibles. Reception & Rejection will be our evening lesson taken from John 11:45-12:19. Notice in this text how people reacted to Jesus in their lives. How much has changed? What are you doing with Jesus in your life? Can we learn something here? Come & see. Thanks to Frank Bradford for being our guest song leader last Wednesday night. He always enjoys himself wherever he goes & we are glad to have him in McKenzie. Do you remember Ralph Casey? Ralph used to hold singing workshops all over the brotherhood (I believe he came here not too many years ago before my coming). Ralph passed away this summer at the age of 86, but the good he did will last for generations. Ralph gave practical advice to song leaders dress respectfully as you lead singing ; don t trust your ear, learn to use a pitch pipe ; speak your numbers loud enough for all to hear ; learn the beat patterns ; sing, don t preach ; Sing familiar songs ; and some songs ought to be avoided in congregational setting. He further stated, Congregational singing is not a vocal performance by auditioned, rehearsed professionals. It is music of heartstrings rather than vocal chords. Its objective is the congregation s participation in a collective spiritual experience. See You Sunday, Jim

I am assuming that you slept in a little; maybe you played some Xbox or Wii, or even went to a friend s house to hang out. Well, whatever you did this weekend I hope you had a great, relaxing, and enjoyable time. You know we need weekends or even week days where we just chill out. I know how busy your lives are with school and the stress and strain it puts on you. So, it is good for us to have a day every once in a while to sit back and relax and do absolutely nothing. Have you grabbed your September calendar? They are out and you can pick one up at the youth bulletin board. Make sure you take a good look at the different events planned for your age group. For our Fellowship Nights together, we do have a menu so you can see what we are eating for each night. MS-HS take note of some of the events planned for you. I hope that everyone has a great week. Sunday, Sept. 11 th we will be making the group picture of all teachers in our Adult & College Class, 3 rd & 4 th grade, and 1 st & 2 nd grade teachers immediately following our morning worship service in the New Fellowship Hall.
