We could say Happy Holidays, but then the reason for the season would be missed. As December 25th approaches, let us all remember the reason we celebrate Christmas. This Christmas, may you enjoy a time of reflection to remember the reason for the season and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Move Ins: Please welcome Harmen & Henka Bandstra (T-401) whom are moving in early December. Move Outs: Danny & Joy Wallace (T-401) moved out in November. Special Celebrations: Congratulations are extended to Marinus Esselink (T-408) who turns 85 on December 8th; Ruth Sullivan (T-403) who turns 90 on December 10th; Derk Berentschot (T-1012) who celebrates his 80th birthday on December 11th; Mary (Pat) Fitzsimmons (P-405) who turns 85 on December 21st and Jeanne Dupuis (T- 103) who turns 90 on December 29th. Many happy returns to each of you! A Time of Reflection: Christmas is a season of great joy. It is a time of God showing His great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. You see, Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of the Christ. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to be born. His birth brought great joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men, and angels all shared in the excitement of knowing about this great event. They knew this was no ordinary baby. The prophets had told of His coming hundreds of years before. The star stopped over Bethlehem just to mark the way for those who were looking for this special child. 3 Page 3 From The Board: As we head into December and the Advent season, we prepare ourselves for a time of reflection and celebration. As a Board, we reflect on all the many accomplishments of the past 11 months and feel blessed to have been able to tackle several challenges and opportunities with the contributions of dedicated and experienced staff, the commitment of hundreds of volunteers within our community and through ceaseless prayer. This year, through the steadfastness of all who have contributed to the organization s successes, I am reminded of Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. I would like to take this opportunity to wish each of you blessings of the season. We pray that all residents will be blessed with good health, hope and peace during this special holiday month and in Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 5 Page 5 Ready For Christmas Ready for Christmas, she said with a sigh, As she gave a last touch to the gifts piled high, Then wearily sat for a moment and read, Till soon, very soon, she was nodding her head. Then quietly spoke a voice in her dream, Ready for Christmas? What do you mean? Ready for Christmas when only last week You wouldn t acknowledge your friend on the street. Ready for Christmas, while holding a grudge? Perhaps you had better let God be the judge, Why, how can the Christ-child come and abide In the heart that is selfish and filled with pride? Ready for Christmas when only today A beggar lad came and you turned him away Without even a smile to show that you cared? The little he asked it could have been spared. Ready for Christmas? You ve worked, it is true, But just doing the things that you wanted to do. Ready for Christmas? Your circle s too small Why, you are not ready for Christmas at all! She awoke with a start and a cry of despair, There s so little time and I ve still to prepare. O Father, forgive me, I see what You mean, To be ready means more than a house swept clean. Yes, more than the giving of gifts and a tree, It s the heart swept clean that He wants to see; A heart that is free from bitterness, sin Ready for Christmas and ready for HIM.

It was the Sunday after Christmas at St Peter and Saint Paul s Church in Borden, Kent, England. Father John was looking at the nativity scene prior to packing away the figures when he noticed the baby Jesus was missing from the scene. Immediately, Father John turned towards the vicarage in order to call the police. But as he was about to do so, he saw little Harry with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the little infant, Jesus. Father John walked up to Harry and said, Well, Harry, where did you get the little infant? Harry replied honestly, I took him from the church, Father John. And why did you take him? With a sheepish smile, Harry said, Well, about a week before Christmas I prayed to little Lord Jesus. I told him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas, I would give him a ride around the block in it.
