6 Maldonado Candidate Visit David and Madeline Maldonado, candidates for community outreach pastors at CMC, will visit us April Come one, come all to hear them preach on April 22. After worship, stick around to hear more about their vision and to ask questions. (Other events are being planned further details next week.) CMC members approved using Vision Campaign funds for this outreach ministry. On May 13, the congregation will make a final decision on whether to call Maldonados to ministry here. For biographical details and a draft ministry description, see the yellow handout distributed earlier (also available in literature rack next to bulletins) and on the CMC website (About Us/Congregational Meetings/Congregational Meeting Agenda). Please keep David and Madeline and CMC in your prayers during these weeks of discerning. Health Update I had the sixth chemo treatment on March 28, and after I have a CT scan on April 12 the doctor will decide what next. Thank you for your prayers, cards, meals, and visits. 7 Bible School 2018: Digging for Treasure June 4-8, 9-11:30 a.m. Assembly, Berkey Ave. Eighth Street, College, and Faith Mennonite churches are joining once again for Summer Bible School at College Mennonite Church. Students in grades K through 6 will take part in Digging for Treasure. Drama, stories, music, and Then and Now Activities will invite students to explore where the Bibles comes from, what life was like in biblical times, while working to memorize the books of the Bible. Early childhood classes (preschool ages 4-5) will use the Herald Press curriculum, Come and See, and may enrich their experiences with visits to select Then and Now Activities. We are inviting all adults and young adults (grades 8-12) to participate in this week of learning and fun. Consider this opportunity to be a part of a community of learning that deeply involves children and adults in the biblical story. We will have a table in the south hall for volunteer sign up on the following Sundays: April 15, 22, and 29. However, if you would like to sign up right now, you may access this link at collegemennonite.org and sign up! Registration for children will begin April 29. MYF Investors Needed Every other summer the MYF has the opportunity to learn and serve for a week in a different community. This summer we will be going to Atlanta, Ga., and participate in DOOR through Mennonite Mission Network. DOOR gives us the opportunity to serve with a variety of urban agencies and ministries, to work alongside local people, and to learn through evening speakers and activities so that we can see the face of God in the city. Being in Atlanta will give us the opportunity to learn more about racial difference in America through various agencies, worshipping at Ebenezer Baptist Church, and visiting several civil rights history museums. Racial inequality is deeply imbedded in history, and the work for racial justice will take generations. Our youth need all of the stories and experiences of CMCers to help them prepare for this trip and to continue to bend the arc of history toward justice for all. For more information about how you can get involved, look for a brochure in the CMC literature racks, or stop by the MYF Investor table in the south hallway today. Investor contributions are due by May 27. Thank you for supporting the youth in the work of Christ-centered justice in a diverse world. Daniel Yoder for the MYF 7
