2 Welcome to College Mennonite Church and this celebration of World Communion Sunday We hope you enjoy this time of worship, celebration, and discovery of God s creative diversity. In worship today we join with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who come to Christ s table anticipating the great banquet that is to come and committing ourselves to making God s kingdom of justice, love, and peace a reality. As we leave the sanctuary today, our time of worship continues into the hallways and the Fellowship Hall as we experience the diversity of God s people. Take this opportunity to explore, learn, and share your own stories of seeing God in intercultural experiences. All who are able are invited to come forward to the circle to take communion. Ushers will give direction, inviting back rows first, front rows last. Make your way to one of the main aisles. Balcony servers are located at the top of the staircase. All bread is gluten-free. Servers are available to serve you at your seat if you are unable to come forward. Health and Hospital Updates Frances Shetler fell and broke her shoulder at the end of September. She is undergoing rehab at Greencroft Healthcare (Room 521) and will likely be there for several weeks. Walt Hochstedler is undergoing physical therapy and preparing for injections to address back pain. Carol Nebel is recovering at home following an overnight stay at Goshen Hospital on Sept. 29 due to injuries she sustained in an accident while walking at Greencroft. Mary White has begun chemotherapy treatments for lung cancer. Wilma Miller, former member of CMC now living in Harrisonburg, Va., has begun chemotherapy as a part of her treatment for lung cancer. Deaths Len Geiser s 106-year-old mother, Grace Geiser of Orrville, Ohio, died on Saturday, Sept. 29. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Orrville Mennonite Church. Beth Bontrager s stepmother, Nancy Peachey Bontrager, wife of Marion and sister-in-law of Allen Peachey, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 30. Services will be held on Oct. 13 at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston, Kan. Brent Blough s mother, Joy Blough, died in her home on Oct. 1. Her funeral service was held on Oct. 5 at Northside Baptist Church in Elkhart. 8

10 CMC Contributions for Puerto Rico Funds are needed to help with the travel, food, and lodging for a team of CMC youth and a team of Goshen College students to help with reconstruction in Puerto Rico under MDS in October. The teams are coordinated by David and Madeline Maldonado. Designate your contributions CMC-MDS for Puerto Rico. CMC Student Aid Fund Recipients of the CMC Student Aid Fund are again collecting monetary commitments for the school year. A commitment of $500 or more will allow you to receive quarterly updates from one or more students throughout the year. Stop by the table by the Koinonia Room today to sign up. One of our students will be happy to assist you! Community Life Commission Grief Support Group The Community Life Commission will again sponsor a grief support group, Loss, Lament, and Living On, for six weeks this autumn, beginning in early November. This is especially for people who are grieving the death of loved ones, whether the death occurred recently or longer ago. More information is forthcoming.
