3 TODAY S SRITURES First Lesson Acts 4:23-33 On their release, eter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. Sovereign Lord, they said, you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. Indeed Herod and ontius ilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. Easter Acclamation The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. The Lord is risen indeed! You were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. The Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their Shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of the waters of life. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. The Lord is risen indeed! Second Lesson 1 John 3:1-2 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3

5 IN OUR RAYERS: Sharlene hiappetti, who suffered bruises in a fall at home the week before last. ++ Ed Scott who was temporally hospitalized last week at Swedish Hospital after suffering a fall at home. He is also recovering at home. We ask the Good Shepherd to tenderly care for His sheep and bless with them with a speedy recovery. 6 DAILY BIBLE READINGS FOR HOME DEVOTIONS ARIL Mon Isaiah 25:1-9 Isiah s confession (1) carries conviction, and we share his thrill at God s successes (2-3), God s social security program (4-5), and His plans for Israel s future (6-7). What impacts us most of all are Easter and Judgment Day (8), days which we share with Isaiah and will continue to share with every generation of hristians forever more (9). Hallelujah! Tues Matthew 9:14-17 Jesus was not interested in ritual fasting that equated with sadness. Save your tears for My funeral (15). Meanwhile, My teachings are not meant to serve as patches for your decrepit religiosity (16), and My theology is too effervescent to be bottled up in your shabby theology (17). In short, you will have to dump your junk when you follow Me. (Amen to that.) Wed hilippians 3:13-16 hristian life is like a marathon. We daren t quit before we reach the finish line, where Jesus will pull us across the goal and award the finishers (12-14). Therefore we focus on the race s goal and don t let others jostle or shove us out of the lane that is clearly marked as our special lane. And let s help each other reach the finish line (15-16). Thurs salm 118:19-24 would make good memory verses for a confirmand and for the rest of us, too. Verse 19 is a prayer, 20 is a confession, and 21 is a promise all founded on the solid base of Jesus (22-23). onfirmation is not a decrepit ritual or shabby theology, but a milestone on life s marathon. We will rejoice and be glad in it both for ourselves and for others. Fri Luke 5:33-39 It was a good question, but it revealed they didn t recognize Jesus as the Bridegroom of the hurch or that He was inviting them to the wedding. They certainly knew the difference between wedding and funeral, but they hadn t yet figured out the realities behind the parables. That s what Bible instruction and continuing in His Word has done for us, thank God. Sat Revelation 21:1-8 Earthly parables dissolve when Earth itself dissolves (21), to be replaced by heavenly scenery and heavenly fulfillment. When the former things have passed away, it s a game-changer (4), and God says so (5). Did you note that the water of life presumes thirst (6), and inheriting all things presumes struggle (7)? We shy away from the lake burning with fire and brimstone, because it could be the fate of someone we know and love. Thine forever, God of Love! Hear us from Thy throne above; Thine forever may we be Here and in eternity! Amen. 6
