13 When a nobody becomes somebody; when something comes out of nothing; when wasteland turns into fertile ground; when locked doors become opened doors, God is doing something special! In the Bible, we read the account of Jesus calling out to a tax collector named Levi or Matthew, who dropped all that he was doing to follow Jesus. In those days, tax collection was an occupation that was notoriously corrupt and despised. When Matthew threw a feast for Jesus, the Pharisees asked why Jesus would eat with the tax collectors and sinners because they apparently belonged to the same class of people who were looked down upon by society. But Jesus saw not what this man was but what he could be. From being a nobody, this tax collector named Matthew was to become one of Jesus 12 apostles and also the writer of one of the Gospels. He travelled around to preach the Good News and brought many lives to Christ. Matthew became an important somebody in the kingdom of God. What is God s call for your life? Which locked doors do God want to open? You are a somebody in God s eyes and plans. God wants to turn the wastelands in your life into fertile ground. Will you believe? And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrew 11:6
