Lorraine Krueger helped establish this congregation but even more she reflected the spirit of what God is accomplishing here. From youngest to oldest, it would be hard to find a member not touched in some way by her gracious appreciation and loving example. I m especially grateful for how her outlook demonstrated what is possible when God captures our imagination. Negative attitudes and pessimistic behavior sometimes take over and cloud our vision of what God is doing. While we all are vulnerable to this, Lorraine had a way of cutting through the gloom to take a stand for the people and causes she believed in. This ministry was one of her priorities. There was no challenge we couldn t face together with God s help. This passage from 1 Peter was read at her memorial service and captures for me what motivated Lorraine and how we might learn from her example. May we keep it is mind through the coming year! I m using Lorraine s favorite Bible translation, The Message by Eugene Peterson: What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven and the

2 future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you ll have it all life healed and whole. I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory. You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don t see him, yet you trust him with laughter and singing. Because you kept on believing, you ll get what you re looking forward to: total salvation. 3 February 3 Vonna Pitel February 10 Open February 17 Open February 24 Renny Rappold YOUNG FAMILIES MINISTRY AT TRINITY Our friends at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg are offering dinner, worship and education for families with young kids on the first Sunday of every month (except for May which will be the second Sunday). They begin at 4:00 with a brief (10 minute tops) worship service, followed by dinner and a game, then ending with about minutes of education for the kids and a separate education time for the parents ending around 5:30. Interested families from our local congregations are invited to participate! They will providing the main meal and ask parents to bring a salad, dessert or appetizer. When you are finished, simply place the item in the designated labeled basket. Guidelines: Try to return books within a month; DVD s within 2 weeks and take care of the items you are borrowing! 5 FAMILY SHARING WINTER COAT DRIVE During the months of January and February we will be collecting new winter coats for Family Sharing. We need coat donations for toddlers, youth, and adults. These coats will be given to those in need next fall. This is a great time to take advantage of the end of the season sales! Donations are being collected in the narthex. To the members of Faith Lutheran Church, All of us in the Krueger Family would like to express our gratitude to all of you for the condolences, prayers and support at the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Lorraine. Other than family, Faith Lutheran Church was the most important part of mom s life. She cherished the time that she was here and loved all of you, Faith s members. Our entire family would like to thank all of you who made Faith such a special place for mom and to her Faith family, a true family to her. We would also like to thank all of you who helped prepare, serve and cleanup the reception after the celebration of mom s life. Everything was so good. We also wish to thank Pastor John for the beautiful celebration of mom s life. The service was just how mom wanted it to be. Mom (Lorraine) will always be remembered and loved by all of us.
