Trusting in God s grace, let us confess our sin. Most gracious and loving God, how much more could we ask of you, how much more could you give us, than you have given us in Jesus Christ? Yet we confess that we have not claimed the fullness of your grace to us. We place our hope in material things instead of in your spiritual blessing. We neglect to serve you with all our strength. We love those whom we choose, instead of those whom you call us to love. From these and all our sins, holy God, free us and forgive us. Make our hearts thrill to the calling of your voice alone. 3 Each Sunday, there will be coffee, juice and doughnuts available in the Kitchen/Fellowship Hall at 10:30 am. This will allow for a time of fellowship before our worship service. If you would like to provide for this fellowship, there is a sign-up sheet available in the kitchen. The Week Ahead: Monday: Tuesday: Pastor s day off. No Session Meeting; it will be re-scheduled for later in the month. Wednesday: Lydia Circle, 10:30 am The Presbyterian Women s Focus (ongoing throughout the summer) will be collecting donations of school supplies (notebook paper, pencils, colored pencils, black sharpies, notebooks, binders, highlighters and pens) for those in need. Items can be left in the Angel Room. Holy Communion, 12:15 pm. Thursday: Quilting, 10:00 am Friday: Sunday: Upcoming... Pastor Napier and three men from Buchanan First leave for the Synod Men s Conference in Harrisonburg, VA. Intern Ryan Willey will preach and lead worship. Monday, July 16: The Capital Construction Project begins in front and side of the church. Sean Murphy arrives from Indiana. Thursday, July 26: Youth/Adult Mission Group arrives from St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Bloomington, Indiana, for a week of mission work in our church, community and county. The group of some 8 will be staying at Buchanan First and will leave on August 1. Sunday, July 22: Intern Shawn Murphy will share his experiences from his recent trip to Calcutta, India. A fellowship dinner, followed by a baby shower for Gifty Adusei, will be held. The dinner will be pot-luck, with the church providing the meats. Bring your favorite summer time foods and plan to stay for the shower afterwards. Gifty has set up a baby registry at Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Gifty is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in New York City. She very much appreciates the many kindnesses already extended to her by BFPC. As she prepares to enter the ACP and to welcome her baby boy, Gift has been strengthened by the fellowship and encouragement that she has received from Pastor Brad and the congregation. Some of the local friends that Gifty has already made will be joining us for the shower. Sunday, July 29: Intern Ryan Willey will preach at Westfork Presbyterian Church in Richlands. Pastor Napier will preach at Buchanan First. Sunday, August 5: Holy communion during worship. Sunday, August 12: The 60 th Anniversary of the Dedication of our present church building. This will be a homecoming Sunday for all of our present and past members. The Rev. John Gess will preach. A meal will be served after worship.
