2 Preschool News What an exciting second month of school! Our unit on transportation and community helpers included trips to the Pickens County Airport, and Interactive Neighborhood for Kids Museum, as well visits from a fireman, police man and police dog, and a chef. The kids are learning a ton and they are having a blast doing it! I would like to thank the Dorcas class who gave money to the preschool so that we could purchase two laminating machines. We greatly appreciate it! After we return from Fall Break we will begin our unit on Fall and being thankful. As always, thank you for your continued prayers, support and donations. Cassie Rasco Preschool Director Music News: The Spivey Hall Children s Choir w ill be w ith us for worship on Sunday, November 8 followed by a concert in the Sanctuary at 3:00pm. You don t want to miss this incredible group! Handbells have started back for fall Please contact Matt Newton if you are interested in playing. We currently rehearse at 5:30pm on Mondays and always have room for another ringer. Children s Ministry News: October is going to be an exciting month for children s ministry! On Sunday, October 18 th, we will have our first Children s Sunday. Children will be leading in all aspects of Sunday worship. I hope you will be here to support our children and to join together in a meaningful worship service. The other big event of October is our Fall Festival. This year it will be held on Wednesday, October 28 th. There are lots of opportunities for you to serve this year from donating chips, cookies, and candy to working with one of our games or activities. Sign up sheets and opportunities will be available soon. Thank you in advance for your support that makes this community event a success! Kim Mason Minister to Children Youth News: This fall is off to a great start for our youth! We had a successful trip to Gatlinburg, TN where we studied about Christ's transforming love and unity through the book of Ephesians, and had a lot of fun!! October has a lot in store for us as well! We will be going to SkyZone on the 10th and to see Chris Tomlin in concert on the 17th. To be a part of either trip, let me know! And don't forget CONNECT on Sunday nights for all 7th-12th graders! 3 Deacon Nomination & Election Dear Kyle, Please accept our heartfelt apologies for taking so long to acknowledge and thank your team for volunteering with us July We are truly grateful for the hard work everyone put in to help us add a chair rail; side the pole barn and add four stalls; clear up the fenced in area; fix the siding and panel the interior of the concession stand; plant flowers; repair mountain bikes; clean up the bike area; and so much more. We also want to thank you for providing a cookout for our campus and leading games with our youth. Our youth and staff enjoyed these opportunities to spend time with you and get to know your group better. Your team is definitely one of the best and most organized groups we ve ever had on Campus. We were blown away by their skill level, the quality of their work, and their genuine servant hearts. Please share our gratitude with your entire group. Thank you once again for sharing your time and talents with us. It s a joy to partner with you in ministry. Any church member can nominate a person or persons on the appropriate form, which will be in the worship guide this Sunday, October 4th and in the foyer throughout the month of October. These forms can be placed in the offering plate or in the ballot box in the foyer. A list of nominees will be presented on November 8th with voting to take place on November 15th to elect seven deacons to the Deacon Body to serve a three-year term. Anyone who has been a member for two years and is 21 years of age may be nominated. Please have the nominee s permission before they are nominated. As renovations on the chapel begin and we replace the pews with chairs, we are gauging interest in those who would like to have a pew in lieu of a donation to the renovation or building fund. Members have come & gone, and we need to update the directory! If you would like to assist during the day when the photographers will be here, please contact the church office at The dates to have your pictures taken will be November 11-13, and December 4-5. Photographers will be here from 2:00-9:00 Tuesdays thru Fridays, and from 10:00-5:00 on Saturday. Appointment times will be arranged within the next few weeks.
