Through these stories we will have to opportunity to enter into profound personal, family and communal conflicts and see how God used these situations to brig about forgiveness, healing and new life. 3 Annual Congregational Meeting The Annual Meeting of the Congregation was held on Sunday, January 28th. Marnie Anderson was elected as President of the congregation with Kris Dubiel as Councilperson At Large. Barb Johnson, Scott Schmidt and Steve Lamberson volunteered to join the Property & Finance Team. Harriet Witt said that she is still thinking about joining the Finance Team. It was noted that the open Council positions can be filled at a later date with the Council s approval. The 2018 budget was approved. The Constitution was ratified by the Congregation. Youth and Family served a Cinnamon Roll Breakfast before the meeting began. Choir Concert The Blair Lutheran Church is holding a special musical event to raise awareness about hunger in our communities. This concert will be performed by area church choirs (Blair Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar Catholic Church, Peace Lutheran Church of Pigeon Falls and Our Saviour s Lutheran Church of Whitehall) on Sunday, February 11 th at 2:00pm. A free-will offering will be accepted to be shared with ELCA World Hunger and local community food pantries. Light refreshments will be served following the concert. Christmas Good Gifts Many thanks for all of the gifts given this year. You gave $ to supply the following items. 2 Pigs, 3 Honey Bees, 1 Water Filter, 3 Goats, 4 Chicks, 1 Rooster, 2 Bibles, 2 School Supplies, 2 School Fees and Uniform for Girls, 2 Feed a Refugee Family for a Week. These gifts will be a blessing in the lives of many people. Girl Scouts French Toast Breakfast The Daisy, Brownie, Junior & Cadette levels of Girl Scouts will serve a French Toast Breakfast on SUNDAY, Feb. 11, 2018, from 8AM - noon, in our fellowship hall. Cost is $5 for age 10 to adult, $3 for age 5-9, Free - 4 & under. Please come to enjoy French Toast, sausages, juice & coffee and to support our Girl Scouts! PAGE 3

4 Youth and Family Events Thank you for your donations from our Cinnamon Roll breakfast before the Annual Meeting. Save the Date for the 2 nd Annual Jogging for Jesus on April 14, :45 registration, 11 am run/walk. New this year, The Church Challenge. Who is the fastest Church? Please help us spread the word to all your friends at other churches. Another upcoming event: At the beginning of March we will have a Simply Said Project Party. We will be ordering our project materials in February and we will enjoy a fun night of being creative with Mykayla Sygulla! We are looking for some great OSLC cooks to donate soup for the Wednesday s Lenten soup supper! All the proceeds for the soup supper are used for the Confirmation activities and Luther Park registration. 5 Flowers for the church at Easter The Easter season coincides with the beginning of spring, a time of renewal and rebirth. Spring-blooming flowers sing of hope and carry special religious meaning as we celebrate rebirth through Christ's resurrection. Members of Our Saviour s may purchase and bring spring plants to the basement prior to the Easter morning services with a tag stating who donated the plant and for whom the plant is in honor or memory of. Easter plants can also be ordered for $ Orders should be placed by March 18 for delivery. Orders can be taken to the church office or collected in the Narthex. Easter Flower Order Form- From: In Memory of: In Honor of: Cost $10 Flower preference (tulip, Easter Lily) There will be no confirmation classes during the season of Lent. Confirmation students are expected to attend Wednesday evening Lenten services and assist with the soup suppers as scheduled Feb 14-Mar 21. 6 Join us Feb 18th during the church service for a diaper/baby shower for baby Jesus! Following the service there will be refreshments, snacks and games! Please bring a package of diaper/wipes. Diapers will go to the diaper closet that is in need of diapers for families of Trempealeau County and surrounding areas. Diaper sizes needed is mainly size 3 & 5 but any size is welcome. Any type of brand! The main goal is the health and hygiene of the child! WELCA Christmas Bakeless Bake Sale Thank you for the many donations to our Christmas Bakeless Bake Sale! Your generosity is really appreciated. We were able to donate $100 each to TCHCC gift fund, New Horizons, RIF, Pajama Gramma, Missionary family (Frieberg s), Dedza Parish in Malawi & Whitehall Schools Weekend Food project. We also sent $200 to Lutheran World Relief for shipping costs for our 99 mission kits plus 5 quilts that we sent. Thank you again for helping with mission work here in Whitehall & in the world! WELCA Bible Study Our Saviour's Lutheran WELCA will not meet in February but will resume meetings on Thursday, March 1st at Our Saviour s Lutheran. Our meeting will begin at 1:30pm with Bible Study led by Pastor Peter. We will then have a business meeting followed by coffee and treats. Come join us! WELCA Invite WELCA is invited to Strum Lutheran on March 14th for their Prayer Breakfast. It begins at 9:30am with guest speaker Pati Kachel. The program is "Irish Tales and Other Blarney". Chairwoman: Nancy Lyngen and Mary Ann Watson 2018 Meeting Dates: W-ELCA s meetings will take place on the 1 st Thursday of each month starting at 1:30pm (Except for January and February due to cold weather). We will meet every other month at Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasantville, beginning with March at Our Saviour s. Our Saviour s will host the months of May, July, September (Mystery Meal Destination) and November. The annual Salad Luncheon will take place on September 20, WELCA Mitten Tree W-ELCA thanks everyone who donated to our Mitten Tree again this year. We had a very successful collection of 37 hats PLUS a bag of 16 hand knit hats under the tree, 17 pairs of gloves & mittens & 6 scarves. We donated them to the Whitehall Elementary School for emergency use. We also applied for & received a $250 gift card from THRIVENT FINANCIAL with which we purchased several pairs of sweatpants, socks & underwear also for emergency use at the Whitehall Elementary School. We will be buying more heavy duty mittens, gloves & hats with the balance on the card. Thanks for the generous support of our Mitten Tree! PAGE 7

8 Faithfully Refurbished Sale & Auction 2018 WHEN: Saturday, June 9 TIME: Gates open at 8:00AM, Tag Sale starts at 8:30AM Auction begins at 10:00 AM. (New format for the event - nearly all items will be tagged with a price.) VOLUNTEERS NEEDED in key positions during the planning phase: Please contact Laura ( ) or attend our next planning meeting at 10:15 AM on Sunday, February 11 in the church basement to express your interest. Advertising Coordinator (s): Laura Foss and Nancy Lyngen Volunteer Coordinator(s): Prepare the volunteer schedule for the event. Includes securing volunteers for event set-up and take down as well as organizing those who will work at the event. Donation Coordinator(s): Be the contact for those who wish to donate to-be refurbished items. Promote use of donated items (share pictures in our Facebook group), available to meet with those wanting to use donated items, organize and oversee the donation drop-off days prior to event for finished projects. Facilities Coordinator: Preparations fo grounds for event. Contact City for garbage cans and barriers. Organize tent and auction trailer set-up, porta-potty, E-Z Up Tents, tables/chairs, etc. Merchandising Coordinator(s): Price all refurbished donations. Categorize items as white tag or color tag. (All items for sale at 8:30, at 10:00 remaining white tag items go to auction and remaining color tag items are 1/2 off.) DONATIONS NEEDED: Seeking donations of supplies: paint, spray paint, paint brushes, gift certificates to Johnson s Hardware, etc. Seeking donations of to-be-refurbished items: do your spring cleaning a little early! We ll take any solid wood ot metal items that could be flipped into something neat! (No pressed board items, please.) We can pick up your items! FLIPPERS: It s the perfect time to get started on your projects for this year s event! If you need some stiff, check out the Church garage and Sunday School basement fireplace room.
