Mark 16:15 Each Sunday at the end of worship, at the time of dismissal, the children proudly say Go In Peace. Christ is our Light. and Congregation responds, We will celebrate forgiveness in the week ahead through acts of kindness, times of listening with care and love, and deeds of generosity, expecting amazing things to happen when we ask God to help and guide us. Expecting amazing things to happen when we trust the Holy Spirit. This past year amazing things did happen. Below is a brief list of those amazing things: Christ Center Worship Services Participating in Stewardship for All Seasons - Growing our Generosity Summer preaching series based on the Sermon on the Mount Youth went to Camp Onomia in Onamia, MN, in August Launched a new website in April Received new members through transfers and baptism Bells of the Bluff Handbells fund raiser. Community Outreach included: Monthly Community Dinner, Feed My Starving Children, Random Acts of Kindness, Sheridan Story, Back to School Supply collection, ongoing work with SACA, Shop With a Cop, Quilters donated quilts to Crestview Center, CH police department, MN Veteran s Home, SACA and Alexandra House. We do God s work not because God needs us to do so, but because our neighbor does. We do God s work in Christ s name for the life of the world. ~ Retired ELCA Bishop Mark Hanson I am so grateful to be called to St. Tim s loving, caring disciples boldly serving God with joy. I am honored to serve with Daniel Lloyd, Pam Gorsegner and Carlos Osorio who are deeply committed to the mission of St. Tim s and are willing to go the extra mile. I am grateful to all the volunteers who freely share their time, energy and resources to make God s kingdom known. Thank you! And it is my prayer that in 2019 God's Spirit will equip us to bring hope, healing, love, and joy to all people in the name of Jesus, to work for peace and justice in our world, to encourage and support others in their relationship with God and to grow in that relationship. 4 60 ST. TIMOTHY S LUTHERAN CHURCH 2018 ANNUAL REPORT Issue 60 It has been another eventful year for St Tim s. We continue to have strong leadership by Pastor Michelene inspiring our faith journey. Pastor has continued to encourage us to look even more outside St Tim s for opportunities to serve our community and to spread the message of Christ to those who have not yet had the opportunity to feel his grace like we at St. Tim s. We have intentionally tried to be welcoming to visitors and that has resulted in several new members joining us in In our community we have continued to have success supporting our local schools through the Sheridan Story project and generous donations of school supplies, backpacks, mittens, hats and scarves. We have continued to clean our local Sullivan park and pack food for Feed My Starving Children. We raised dollars for Columbia Heights Shop 2018 Council Report with a Cop program. We also performed a few Random Acts of Kindness in the community, and we look forward to suggestions for more. One of our random acts of kindness was to surprise the Columbia Heights police with a delivery of 6+ pans of bars, cookies and treats. St. Timothy quilters have once again lovingly produced dozens of beautiful quilts to keep our community warmer. Our community dinner crew produced a dozen warm and delicious community dinners to feed hundreds of our community members. We continue to share space with Little Voyageurs Montessori School and Casa de Dios. We collaborated with LVMS by our members reading to the kids and Pastor leading them in yoga. Casa de Dios hosted one of our community dinners and it was great! I want to thank my council team from 2018, Margaret Hanna, Laurie Totzke, Pat Goetz, Sharon Hamen, Susan Wang, Kay Hay, Rita Daniels, Kaye Bergstrom, Dustin Wahl, and Chris Hay. I have been honored to serve as President these last two years and now Kay Hay will be very capable in Special thanks to Pat Goetz as Council Secretary and Dustin Wahl as Vice President and they are continuing into Welcome to new members Bev Knapp and Barb Johnson. As always, all church members are welcome to come to Council Meetings; please contact a Council member if you have questions or concerns. We look forward to an active 2019! BE IT RESOLVED THAT - Resolutions for 2019 (February 3, 2019) We continue to set aside the first Sunday of each month to contribute special offerings of food or money to Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA), that we set aside the third Sunday of each month to contribute special offering money for Global Missions (mission support), and that we set aside the fourth Sunday of each month to contribute special offering money to the Lutheran Church s World Hunger Appeal.

TIMOTHY S LUTHERAN CHURCH 2018 ANNUAL REPORT Issue 60 OUR IMPACT SACA (Southern Anoka Community Assistance) With your donations of $677 cash, non-perishable foods, clothing and other items collected all year-long, we are working toward our mission to serve and reach out to others. We also collected several Reverse Advent Boxes that were delivered to SACA at Christmas. World Hunger Cash donations of $345 sent to the Minneapolis Area Synod to help with world hunger. Global Missions Cash donations of $130 sent to the Minneapolis Area Synod to help with missions around the globe. Meals on Wheels Cash donations of $124 sent to MOW. Volunteers deliver meals to home- bound folks in this program. Feed My Starving Children Cash donations of $1,003 sent to FMSC. Each quarter, many volunteers pack food at FMSC in Coon Rapids. Synod Benevolence 10% ($202) of the cash donations from weekly Sunday Fellowship Hour was sent to the Minneapolis Area Synod to help use for benevolence. Sheridan Story $955 in cash donations and volunteers helped pack backpacks at a local elementary school so that children will have food for the weekend. Applied for and obtained $2,000 ELCA Hunger Grant for SS. Trunk or Treat Many community children joined St.Tim s youth for this fun event. Reading to LVMS Students Volunteers read to the Montessori students every other Tuesday. Backpack & School Supplies Your cash donations and hundreds of dollars-worth of backpacks and school supplies allowed many children to start off the school year with essential items. Shop with a Cop Program You donated $1,171 allowing our local police to make the Christmas a lot brighter for 13 families. Bake & Craft Sale $2,408 proceeds from the sale of your donations of baked goods, craft items and quilts going to the CIF. Community Dinner 1,187 delicious, free meals were served by an average of 12 volunteers per dinner. All are welcome to these dinners which continue to be held the second Tuesday of each month. Received $1,224 in cash donations. Sullivan Park Volunteers met at Sullivan Park on a Sunday in spring, summer and fall to clean up our neighborhood park. Quilters Sunday Our quilters group made 71 quilts and donated them to local hospitals, shelters, CHPD, SACA and to newly baptized babies at St. Tim s. Random Acts of Kindness We surprised the LVMS staff and parents with breakfast food/treats. Kitchen Remodel Fund Your generous pledges, donations, memorials and fundraiser proceeds allowed us to pay off the Kitchen Remodel loan in March (one year earlier than anticipated). Chancel & Youth Choirs What is a church without it s choirs and leaders? We love our choirs! Volunteers of America We were able to provide the local VOA senior lunch program with space at St. Tim s all summer. National Night Out Area neighbors enjoyed a potluck, fellowship, quilt drawing and visit from local police. Memorials $2,951 was received from memorials in memory of loved ones. Most of 2018 s memorials were directed to the ReNu fund or donor-specified funds.. Blessing of the Animals We held the annual Blessing of the Animals service to which many local community pets attended with their human parents. Bells of the Bluff Fundraiser $2,174 raised through tickets from a chicken dinner and Bells of the Bluffs Handbell concert with proceeds going toward the Capital Improvements Fund. ELCA World Hunger Chicks Youth-sponsored fundraiser for the ELCA s God s Global Barnyard program to purchase chicks for poor families to raise for income. You gave $1,630, most of which came from Lenten giving. Thrivent Action Grants Thrivent members applied for $750 in grants that helped cover expenses for two fundraisers held during the year. Thrivent Choice Dollars Thrivent members chose to designate $2,320 in Choice Dollars to St. Tim s. Reflection Garden Donations of time helped keep our Memorial Garden a beautiful place to remember loved ones.
