Join us Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 22, at 7 pm in the Nave. Take time to be deliberate and purposeful in giving thanks to our Heavenly Father, who has provided us with such abundance in our lives. Blanket Sunday is November 5. In 2016, Church World Service distributed thousands of blankets around the world. Trinity can be part of an even bigger response in 2017 to reach families fleeing their homes, recovering from disaster, and more. Money is used not only for blankets but also for food, water, and other critical short- and long-term support to survivors. Relief has been provided for disasters like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, the earthquake in Mexico, and the ongoing conflict in Syria. Blanket Sunday envelopes are in the

3 Trinity Today for your monetary donations. Put envelopes in the offering plate, or send checks to the church office. Make checks payable to Trinity Lutheran Church, and write Blanket Sunday on the memo line. Your generous support truly makes a difference to struggling families around the world. Call Committee news: Check out the bulletin board as soon as you enter the Gathering Space to see the chart that (1) illustrates the call process, (2) updates you on the committee s progress, and (3) introduces the members of the Call Committee. You can buy fair-trade coffee, tea, and chocolate in the Gathering Space after services on Sunday. What's been happening in Columbia? Pick up a copy of the latest newsletter from Trinity's missionaries in Columbia, Curtis and Katie Kline. For more information, check out their blog: 8000feetandcounting.blogspot.com. Keep them in your prayers. Prayer requests are listed on their bimonthly newsletter. ELCA National Youth Gathering! We need your help to send 19 representatives of Trinity Lutheran Church to Houston, Texas. The Gathering is an inspirational meeting of 30,000 Lutheran high school students for faith building and service to a community hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. In a few weeks, you'll hear directly from the youth who are excited for this opportunity, but in the meantime... here's what to do... take any envelope from the bulletin board in the Gathering Space... fill it with the number of dollars listed on the front (cash, check, or donate at the Giving Station) place the envelope in the offering, then... SMILE... you are a blessing to the youth and their advisors! Thank you!

4 Gathering Space Art: C. Scott Campbell has been an active painter for more than 50 years and a secondary school art instructor for 32 years. He has a BS in Art Education from Kutztown State College with additional art credits from Kutztown, Millersville, and Central Penn. Please join us for the 2nd Annual Thanks & Giving event on Sunday, November 19. Like last year, instead of putting on a dinner for ourselves, we ll be giving to others. We ll make and deliver dinners to Trinity members and those in the community in need of the meal, such as homebound folks or those with no one else to share the day. In addition, we ll collect canned goods. At the same time, we ll remember all the ways we re thankful for how God has blessed us. This event is a wonderful way for us to work together while helping those in need during the holidays. Sign up at the table in the Gathering Space to be part of this great outreach! 5 The Book Discussion Group will discuss Fredrick Backman s book A Man Called Ove on Sunday, November 19, at 9:30 am in room All are invited to read the book and join the discussion! Nawakwa's Annual Quilt Auction is Sunday, November 5, starting at 2 pm. The quilts offered for auction are displayed in the Assembly Hall, and the many quality crafts for silent auction are displayed next door in the Craft Hall. This is a great opportunity to start some Christmas shopping early AND to support the Lutheran Camping Corporation! Help support the Ecumenical Food Pantry by attending Theater Harrisburg s producation of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on Sunday, November 19, at 2:00 pm at the Whitaker Center. Tickets are $35 each, with half going to support the work of the Ecumenical Food Pantry. To reserve your tickets, send a check to the Ecumentical Food Pantry, 901 N. 6th Street, Harrisburg, PA Make checks payable to Ecumenical Food Pantry with theater tickets on the memo line. Include you name and address with each order. Payment must be received by November 13. Women of Trinity Circles will be held on November 14 due to Election Day being on the first Tuesday of this month. Please make a note of this change on your calendars. We will be discussing John the Baptist, baptism, and how we can prepare a place for the Lord in our lives. See you on the 14th! BethAnn Telford, world marathon runner, brain cancer survivor, and champion for pediatric brain cancer research will tell her story at Trinity on Saturday, November 18, at 1:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. BethAnn recently completed 7 marathons, on 7 continents, in 7 days! BethAnn grew up at Trinity and her father and sisters are still members. A free-will offering will be taken with all money going to Pediatric Cancer Research at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. To date BethAnn has raised over $1 million dollars for this cause.

8 Faith in Action: Bread for the World s Offering of Letters will be collected and blessed at Trinity on November 19. These letters will be hand-delivered to Congress in Washington, D.C. Your messages to Congress will push legislators to make funding decisions which will support vital anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs and policies that put us on track to End Hunger by 2030! Note: Information, sample letters, and stationary will be available in the Gathering Space November 4 and 5 and 11 and 12. Assistance will be provided by Missions Team members as needed. Children are encouraged to participate by creating drawings of their vision of hunger. Paper plates and markers will be available for this activity. Box Top$ and UPC Codes for Education needed. Trinity is continuing to collect box tops to benefit several Harrisburg elementary schools. Accepted box tops have the Box Tops for Education logo and are located at the top or side of boxes from a variety of manufacturers such as Betty Crocker, General Mills, Scott Paper, and others. UPC labels and box tops should be placed in the pink Campbell s tin box on the table located to the left of the Gathering Space main entrance door. Sheets containing a list of accepted product box tops are available on that table. Knitwear collection for homeless children: Trinity is collecting knit hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves for elementary schoolaged homeless children in the Harrisburg School District. These items are distributed to the children at a Christmas party which is sponsored by local businesses. Trinity has supported this effort for many years through your generous contributions. A collection box for purchased or handmade knitwear will be in the Gathering Space until November 26. Items donated beyond the needs of the Christmas party will be distributed to other local children.
