4 Dear Friends, Busy! Busy! Busy! That s how I would describe these past couple of weeks around here. The Catholic Daughters had a very successful Reno Trip. This two day trip has become so popular that people were turned away. The ladies, coming back from Reno, were very tight lipped on how much they won or lost. Hope everyone that wants to go next year, can. We had the Blessing of the Animals at both the parish and school for the Feast of St. Francis. For me, this is one of the highlights of the year. I love blessing all your furry (and non-furry) friends. Remember: the blessing only lasts for a year. See you next year! We dedicated our new ball field last Monday to Marybethe Escobar. Marybethe was the long time secretary at OLL School who died tragically of cancer this past year. It was good to have Marybethe s daughter Molly here to cut the ribbon of our new field, plus three of Marybethe s brothers throw out the first pitch. What a joy it was for me to see our students playing and having a good time on our new field. It really is all about the kids! The Hall should be ready by November 1 st. We are still waiting for our new industrial stove. I think you ll like our new Hall. The only thing that still needs to be done is our bathrooms, but that will take place next summer. Thank you to all the groups who regularly meet in our Hall, for your patience. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Thank you for being so open last Sunday when I gave the Financial Report for this parish. You ve done good, but there is still more work to be done for those who give little or nothing. Here is some great news: the 12 Noon Mass, on average, gives $1,100 a Sunday in the collections. This past Sunday, they gave $1,500. Thank you, 12 Nooners. I knew you could do it. Extra copies of the Financial Report are by the doors of the Church. On Sunday, October 25, at the 9am Mass, we will have Halloween Sunday here at OLL. I will explain, at the Mass, the true meaning of Halloween. I ask all our children to come in costume that day and there will be goodies afterwards. Please parents, no knives, swords, guns or anything else you deem inappropriate for Mass. See you on the 25 th at 9am! Remember our new Mass Schedule begins on November 29 th : Saturday Masses at 5pm and 7pm (Spanish). Sunday Masses at 8am, 10am, and 12 Noon (Spanish). Have a great week! Father Brian

5 MARIN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL All prospective students and their parents are invited to join us at our community-wide Open House on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 2:00-4:30pm. This is an opportunity to experience Marin Catholic. The Open House highlights our academic program, student leadership opportunities, campus ministry, the arts, athletics, and introduces you to members of our community. This is a full 2 1/2 hour program. Please plan on arriving in the gym promptly at 2:00pm. No need to RSVP. Our Mass Book for 2016 is Open Due to the number of request that we receive, we will limit the number of Mass Intentions to no more than 5. If you wish, you may your Mass intention requests to the Rectory at church@ollnovato.org. You may send in your offering later. We request a $10 offering for each intention which is designated for the Priest presiding over that particular Mass. This is a standard set by the Archdiocese and is followed by all Parishes. OLL Seasonal Outreach Ministry for R.E.S.T. Providing Meals for the Winter Homeless Shelter Our Lady of Loretto s Seasonal Outreach Ministry will again be helping to provide a hot meal on the fourth Tuesday of the month from November through April for the Winter Homeless Shelter headed by the R.E.S.T. (Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) Program. OLL has been a partner in this very worthwhile program for the past four years with other Faith Communities here in Novato to provide, prepare, and serve a warm homemade meal once a month for men at a Church in Novato that will be providing sleeping space. R.E.S.T. is a cooperative program of interfaith congregations, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and Marin Community Foundation that have coordinated a program called REST (Rotating Emergency Shelter Team). This team has strived to provide a warm evening meal, companionship, and overnight shelter to some of Marin County s homeless citizens during the winter months for the past nine years. If you can help by providing a part of a meal, make a donation toward a meal, and/or would like to volunteer your time to work at one of these dinners please contact: Joanna Gernetzke Thank you for your continued support of those in need. Este viaje de dos días se ha vuelto tan popular que la gente se dio la vuelta. Las damas, al regresar de Reno, eran los labios muy ajustado de cuánto ganan o se pierden. Esperamos todos que quiere ir el año que viene, puede. Tuvimos la bendición de los animales, tanto en la parroquia y la escuela para la fiesta de San Francisco. Dedicamos nuestro nuevo campo de pelota el lunes pasado a Marybethe Escobar. Marybethe fue secretario desde hace mucho tiempo en la Escuela OLL que murió trágicamente de cáncer el año pasado. Fue bueno tener la hija de Marybethe Molly aquí para cortar la cinta de nuestro nuevo campo, más tres de los hermanos de Marybethe lanzar la primera bola. Qué alegría fue para mí ver a nuestros estudiantes a jugar y pasar un buen rato en nuestro nuevo campo. Realmente es todo acerca de los niños!
