None of us have it all figured out and these questions around God are arguably some of the most important questions we should all explore. Olivet Family & Friends, I would like to thank each of you for the prayers, visits, phone calls, food and cards I received during and after my hospital stay. I was not expecting such a sudden illness and at the time was disappointed about Richard s and my trip, but I got a shorten visit with Nelson and Sarah and lots of rest the following week. We are proud of you, Felicia! It s Time To Think Christmas We need your help to make the Christmas Cantata sing. When Earth Received Her King is an inspiring, but easy to sing, Christmas Musical. But it needs lots of voices, your voice, to make it come alive. We will be presenting the Cantata on Sunday, December 18 during the 11:00 worship. Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, October 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. As in the past, each week until the last couple of rehearsals we will focus on one piece from the cantata. We try really hard to keep the Christmas rehearsal to only 30 minutes. So, you can be a part of the Christmas celebration and still get home early on Wednesday nights. Toronto, Canada Mission Trip Information On September 21, I presented details from Dawn Dill s and my recent pre-mission trip to Toronto, Canada. I also presented to the church details about the mission work that can be expected for the team that commits to going next summer. I presented what Dawn and I learned this past summer from the missionaries of Toronto and the work they are I would like to invite all youth to come for our Tailgate Social to be held Friday, October 14th at Mt. Olivet beginning at 5:30 p.m. The home football game against Armstrong High School will begin at 7:00 p.m. Youth are encouraged to invite friends from school! We will have food and fellowship before youth head over to PHHS! If this is somedoing which we can be a part of next summer! Youth who will be in grades 9-12, starting next school year, are eligible to go on the adult/youth mission trip. Contact Cindy Weston or any member of the Missions Development Committee to learn more about this mission trip. 5 CHILDREN S MINISTRY NEWS OCT Taking Her Hand! For everything there is a season. As children grow parents walk through the many seasons of life with them. Parents are a child s first and best reflection of faith! On Oct. 7th the Children s Ministry will be hosting a Daddy Daughter Dinner in celebration of the special bond between fathers and their daughters. Registration is required for the event. Mom s will be contacted with additional information. Children s Choir Getting to know the CW.. To most, CW stands for Children s Worship but for the children who come on Sunday it stands for Christ Working! Each Sunday children age 3 through second grade are invited to attend the first half of second service with their families and then leave with CW leaders to worship, pray and learn about Christ in an age focused environment. We begin with prayer allowing the children a time to share what and who are on their hearts. Then we move in to one of our times of worship as children lift up their voices in song. Then through a variety of ways we learn together about Christ s Work in our lives and the world through theme based lessons. Our time closes with more worship a blessing on the children and their week ahead and closing prayer. Our CW theme starting in Oct will be The Gospel According to Dr. Suess! We will look at the Biblical parallels between Scripture and our favorite Suess books! The CW... finding Christ at Work in our daily life! Olivet opens its doors to provide the children and families of our community with a safe, fun, God centered fall event. There will be chili, hotdogs, trunks to treat from and so much more. All Children age three years and up are invited to be a part of the Children s Choir. We practice every Sunday from 9:30-9:45 and sing during second service on the second Sunday of the month. Please join us in sharing the light of Christ with our neighbors. The Children s Ministry is in need of chili and cornbread makers, trunk decorators and candy.
