To Register, contact Patty Taylor (321) or pattytaylor@ollmlb.org News from Daily Bread /// Save-the-Date Daily Bread, whose vision is to ensure that everyone has access to the food and social services needed to become self-sufficient will hold its second Feeding Friends & Family Evening on October 1, Since it s incorporation in 1987, Daily Bread has developed systems and partnerships to address the hygiene, employment, and housing needs of people in need. This event, recognizing Daily Bread s 30 th year serving South Brevard County, and the recipient of Florida Today s 2015 Volunteer Organization of the Year Award, will feature Sheriff Wayne Ivey as keynote speaker. The event will take place on the Daily Bread campus at 815 E. Fee Ave., Melbourne, Florida from 6-to-10 pm Enjoy a happy hour, buffet dinner, balloon raffles, music & entertainment by Timmy Vee, as well as silent auction of artwork donated by local artists. Daily Bread serves over 93,000 meals each year & distributes enough food products to over 28 pantries to feed another 1.4 million meals; but food is only the starting point. By supporting this event you become part of a local network that assists the most vulnerable people in our community. Your support is needed to continue this mission. The parish plans to acquire a 3-octave set of high-quality, world-renowned Malmark handbells and establish a Handbell Choir for our music ministry program. Now through August 31 st, we are asking your help in raising the funds needed to purchase the handbells and accessories needed for the Handbell Choir. The goal is to raise $14,000 by the end of August. No gift is too small. Simply place your donation in an envelope marked HANDBELLS and return it through the parish collection. Gifts of $250 or more will have the opportunity to honor or memorialize loved ones directly on a handbell. A sample Handbell is available after Mass in the music area of Church for you to see! According to the Catholic Dictionary, Liturgy is a public service, duty, or work. In Scripture it refers to the religious duties to be performed by priests and levites in the Temple, especially those related to the Sacrifice; in Christian use among the Eastern Churches it means the Eucharistic Sacrifice. In present day usage liturgy is the official public worship of the Church and is thus distinguished from private devotion. Basically, liturgy is what we do when we gather together for Mass. Our liturgical celebrations are at the heart of what we do as Catholics. Each one of us is called to be a FULL and ACTIVE participant in our liturgies by giving full attention to the Mass, participating in the responses, singing the hymns and acclamations, listening to the Word of God and receiving Christ in the Holy Eucharist. May all of our liturgical celebrations bring us closer in relationship to God and one another. L O V E The Virtue of this week is: Love Definition: Love is the free self-giving of the heart to God and neighbor. It is the greatest virtue. Scripture Reading: Luke 10:27 You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Prayer for Love: Lord Jesus, open our minds and soften our hearts towards our brothers and sisters. May empathy grow in us so we share in each other s joys as well as their sorrows. Amen. Myth: Strangers are the most frequent perpetrators of sexual abuse. Fact: 80% of molested children are abused by a person they KNOW. Según el Diccionario Católica, liturgia es un servicio público, deber, o el trabajo. En la Escritura se refiere a los deberes religiosos a realizar por los sacerdotes y levitas en el templo, especialmente los relacionados con el sacrificio; en uso cristiana entre las Iglesias del Este, significa el Sacrificio Eucarístico. En la actualidad el uso de la liturgia es el rendir culto oficialmente en público de la Iglesia y asi se distingue de la devoción privada. Básicamente, liturgia es lo que hacemos cuando nos reúnimos para la misa. Nuestras celebraciones litúrgicas están en el corazón de lo que hacemos como católicos. Cada uno de nosotros está llamado a ser un participante pleno y activo en nuestras liturgias, dando toda nuestra atención a la misa, participando en las respuestas, cantando los himnos y aclamaciones, escuchado la Palabra de Dios y recibiendo a Cristo en la Eucaristía. Que todos nuestros celebraciones litúrgicas nos ayuden a formar una relación más cerca con Dios y con cada uno.
