ANDREW S CREATION CARE CLUB Our team hopes to bring together volunteers from our faith community who want to make a difference in caring for God s Creation. Catholic leaders have long recognized the reality of human misuse of Creation. We are getting together to put our faith into action. We prayerfully reflect on our place in the world and educate about caring for Creation as God calls us to do. 3 TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME END OF SUMMER REFECTION Good morning, good God! As the sun sets earlier each evening, Labor Day's horizon eclipsing the end of August days, I'm wondering, Lord: why must good times come to an end? Why are memories not enough? Why is promise of the fall's leaffiltered beauty not enough today to surrender summer s warmth and pace and peace? I know I should be grateful for the fall: your gentle preparation of everyone and everything for the dying winter always brings... Still, letting go of summer is not easy... You know the seasons better than I and no season changes, Lord, around me or within me, but that you know first how those very changes will change me... Be with me, Lord, in all the seasons of my life and in the in-betweens when moving from one season to the next is itself another season to abide... Help me bide the summer's passing on, its slipping from the calendar, and from my nights and days... Take my offered heart and open me to all the changes in the weeks and months ahead Make me gentle with the season's change and with the hearts of those around me, those whose paths cross mine today... I offer you my seasoned heart for you're the source of all the strength I need to live this... Labor Day, a season's debut... Be my trusted guide, Lord, and walk me from the summer into fall, walk me through this season s change and the seasons changing in my soul.... Give to those in need of a job, Lord, and to the tired, grant a well-earned rest...amen. 3-NIGHT HEALING MISSION WITH PAUL RYMNIAK CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION IN EMERSON MONDAY-WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER :00 PM EACH EVENING Healing is not just for the physically impaired. Mental and emotional stresses take a heavy toll as well. So, if you or your loved ones are in need of healing, come experience the Lord and what He can do for you. The Sacrament of Confession will be available during the mission. Sigh... there goes another summer, Snoopy! Lord, walk me into Fall and the new School Year! MEMORIAL OPPORTUNITIES We have had a very positive response to our memorial fund which allows people to donate any amount in memory of a loved one (living or deceased) in commemorating special events in their lives (births, baptisms, marriages, weddings, anniversaries, ordinations, special birthdays, in thanksgiving or other milestones). We have been able to purchase and pay for new vestments and stoles before we had no matching vestments or concelebrant stole - and new flagons (pitchers) for the consecration of the Precious Blood of Christ. The Paschal Candle was donated through a generous donation to the fund. Not everyone can afford to buy a single item so it is nice to be able to contribute towards it. An acknowledgement is sent to those who are being remembered or honored as well as a personal thank you to those who contribute. Please see Fr. Jim or call him at the Parish Center at for more information or to contribute to the memorial fund. Knights Korner IN SERVICE TO ONE, IN SERVICE TO ALL. SAVE THE DATE: PARISH PICNIC - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 1:30-5:30 PM ON ST. ANDREW S PARISH GROUNDS St. Andrew s and the Knights of Columbus Food donated by The Estate at Florentine Gardens. The doors will open at 6:00 PM. Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. The Italian Buffet menu will include chicken parmigiana, sausage and peppers, pasta, bread/butter, tossed salad, dessert, soda, coffee and tea. The cost is $12 per person and $30 for a family, consisting of parents and minor-aged children. Please make reservations by September 19 by calling Mike DeAngelo at The proceeds of the Friday Night Dinners fund the various charities supported by the Knights. All are welcome.
