1 TRINITY TOGETHER Trinity Lutheran Church 357 West Main Street Kutztown, Pennsylvania September 2015 Pastor: The Rev. Keith Rohrbach Director of Youth & Family Ministry: Seth Noggle Editor/Administrative Assistant: Lisa Finke Church Office Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM 2:00 PM Website: Our Mission Statement Telling others of God s unconditional love through worship; Empowering discipleship through education; Leading others to this family of Faith as baptized believers; Calling all to follow Jesus example of servanthood. Greetings, The summer is over and September has started, and I m sure many of you feel like you haven t had a time to catch your breath. This summer has been full of fun surprises, sad days, and days full of energy and pure joy. I hope you ve had the opportunity to run the full gamut. Our lives are full of heartache and happiness, and it s our choice whether to hate something in our lives or love every moment of them, even the parts that bring us pain. As someone once put it, At every moment, we are volunteers. We put ourselves on the line, and we decide how to interact with the moments in our lives. Will we step up and embrace it, or will we let it control us? I think Jesus was the greatest volunteer. Jesus came into the world and took all the moments that life had to give, and Jesus turned them into things of opportunity and grace. He turned a death sentence for a woman being stoned into a moment of self-reflection and grace. Jesus turned a meal with sinners into a moment of empathy and grace. Jesus turned a death on the cross into a moment of unadulterated love and grace. As we see life s pains and joys may we be volunteers who turn them into moments of grace. Whether it s at a wedding or a funeral may we volunteer ourselves to soak in those moments and embrace them, love them, and bring joy. That s our job after all. Peace, Seth Noggle 1

4 The Adult Sunday School Class welcomes you to join us in enjoying The Christian Community Comes Alive, a program that studies the Holy Spirit s work in the Acts of the Apostles making ordinary people accomplish extraordinary acts within the early Christian community: miraculous healings, narrow escapes, powerful preaching, extraordinary hospitality and humorous moments in stewardship. We will learn how the Holy Spirit works through faithful disciples, committed communities and blessings disguised as challenges. Rev. Chip Borgstadt, an ELCA pastor in Nebraska, leads us to understand the present role of the Spirit to call, gather, enlighten and make holy those who will declare Jesus Christ in our world. Please join us Sunday mornings at 9:00 am beginning September 13, 2015, in the Library for conversation, coffee and fellowship. Discussion/Growth Group The discussion/growth group will be using the Animate DVD series followed by discussion. Christian voices such as Brian McLaren, Nadia Bolz- Weber and Shane Clairborne are featured. The program is designed to energize conversation about topics such as: What does it mean to walk in the way of Jesus? What if our churches became places where we practiced being like Jesus? Can we learn to pray in ways that are meaningful, helpful and life giving? and many more topics. Hope you will join us in the Parlor at 9 AM September 13th for some exciting, stimulating together discussion as we grow in our journey with our God. Join us for one or all of the sessions. NEWSLETTER Youth Group took a brief hiatus over half of July since many were gone on vacation and working at the Folk Festival. We have started back in August, and things are going well. We ve had some youth who have moved into our Middle School group, and I have some exciting ideas planned for the year. We held Messy Sunday in August and we had a great time. Vacation Bible School was a great success this year. We had a lot of our Good News Club students show up, and it s always great to see them over the summer. Our volunteers were great, and kept the children engaged and active. We will be continuing with our rotation method for Good News Club again this year, and will be preparing for the children come September. Youth Group Schedule for September Theme - Who are You?
