This Sunday was once called Low Sunday, a step down from Easter glory, and an unfortunate nickname since Easter rejoicing goes on for fifty days. Traditionally this is the day when the newly baptized put away their white baptismal robes and returned to their everyday life after a week of intense celebration. Of course, the goal was to take up everyday duties with a very new point of view. A long title for the day was Dominica in albis deposito, or The Lord s Day for Putting Away the Albs, so no wonder the nickname Low Sunday arose. In the old calendar it was also called Quasimodo Sunday, after the first word of the opening chant, Quasimodo geniti infantes, or As newborn infants, a reference to the newly baptized taken from the Epistle of Peter. Victor Hugo s bell-ringing hero in The Hunchback of Notre Dame was abandoned as an infant on the threshold of the cathedral of Paris on Low Sunday, 1467, and named Quasimodo for the feast. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

Requiring no proof of income, the food pantry helps those in need by providing approximately one week's worth of food per month. One day, there will be an end of abortion in America. Reasons Why the Pro-Life Movement Will Win! (Part I). There are around 69 million Catholics in the U.S. and if more of us would be prepared to commit ourselves to assist and get involved, that day will be sooner rather than later. If so, fewer innocent, unborn babies will be victims and have to lose their lives. This week and next we will outline the reasons why we are winning and why there is reason to be optimistic:- (1). The most sure sign of our ultimate victory is the strong and ever-growing involvement of young people who are pro-life and fighting for an end to abortion. Today's generation have the benefit of being more scien tific and so they know that life begins at conception and cannot be deceived that the child in the mother's womb is anything other than that----a child! (2). The flow of conversions is virtually all in one direction... that is, from death to life. Have you ever heard of a pro-life advocate become pro-abortion (other than possibly a few politicians who are notorious for abandoning principles in exchange for votes)? Yet there are thousands of doctors, nurses, technicians, security guards, etc. who have worked at abortion clinics and who have repented and who are now staunchly pro-life. (3). Another clear sign of progress is the wave of women who are speaking out about how they regret having had an abortion. The "Silent No More Awareness Campaign" provides an opportunity to share the testimo nies of these brave women and they reveal that instead of "solving" a problem, abortion creates more problems of its own. Moreover, these testimonies put the pro -abortion lobby in a huge dilemma because for years, they have been saying, "Listen to the voices of women!" Now, those women's voices increasingly repudiate the lie of abortion. (4). Over half of America's freestanding abortion clinics have closed since That is because no matter how much money and media access the abortion movement has built up, they cannot remove the stigma that is attached to abortion. In fact, the abortion industry's great est fear is not that Roe v. Wade will be reversed, rather, it is that abortion will remain legal but there will not be any medical personnel to do abortions.

Chesterton "Protecting Human Life is the Cornerstone of Catholic social Teaching." "The abortion conflict has never simply been about repealing Roe v. Wade. And the many pro-lifers I know live a much deeper kind of discipleship than single issue politics. But they do understand that the cornerstone of Catholic social teaching is protecting human life from conception to natural death. They do understand that every other human right depends on the right to life. They did not and do not and will not give up and they won t be lied to." Archbishop Charles J. Chaput O.F.M
