The Well Band (Kris and Jennifer McKenzie, John Cripple, Marsha Bishop, Donnie Bosarge, David Keith, and Emily Barlow) for all the wonderful music they provide each Sunday. First United Methodist Church of Long Beach Youth Thank you so much for supporting our art sale last week. Our proceeds totaled almost $1,000. We are still seeking sponsorships for the 36 students who will be attending Bigstuf, in Panama City, FL, July 17-21st. Please help us by selecting an envelope in the lobby of main campus or the Well. Directions are located on the board and inside the envelope. Your envelope and donation can be placed in the offering plate or to the church office. We only have a few envelopes left. Thank you for helping. Imagine No Malaria Offering We will be participating in a United Methodist mission offering for the eradication of malaria. One mosquito net costs $10.00 and can save a life. Since Imagine No Malaria began, deaths by malaria have dropped approximately 70% worldwide. We are encouraging families to make an offering on June 4th to help with this endeavor! Envelopes will be inserted in the bulletins on May 28th and June 4th and can be placed in the offering plate on Sunday. College Small Group Led by Alissa Draime A College Small group has begun upstairs in Heritage Hall during the Sunday School hour. The lesson, Building a Stronger Relationship with God will begin June 4th! Vacation Bible School The summer is almost upon us. It's time for Vacation Bible School (VBS). We are excited to spend that week singing and crafting and most

importantly, telling kids who Jesus is and how much he loves us! Registration forms for kids and volunteer forms for adults are available in the lobby of the sanctuary and The Well.

They will be presenting their Summer Music Tour on Wednesday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Come and hear their music!! There will also be a fellowship time with the youth following the program in the Christian Life Center. Ice cream will be provided. Hope to see you there! Children's Ministry Mission Children's Ministry will be sponsoring a day of fun at Big Play Family Fun center for the children at the Harrison County Emergency Shelter. The shelter is dependent on support from the community in order to provide entertainment for the children who find themselves living at the shelter over the summer. We will be taking donations on Sunday, June 18th, that will go towards the cost of food and games for these kids. Thank you in advance for your support of the children! Men and Women's Softball Schedule Please come cheer us on to victory! The home games will be located the Goldin Sports Complex, Prudie Circle in Gulfport. School Supplies Needed Even though our thoughts have turned to summer, many students in the Long Beach School District will not be able to afford to buy the school supplies they will need when school resumes in August. With our efforts the past two summers, our church has become a primary supplier of these extra school supplies for kids in our school district. We will collect supplies again this year as our summer mission project. The boards with the supply lists will be available in the lobby of the sanctuary and the Well starting June 4th! Jon Kaufman "The Holy Spirit in You" Acts 2:1-11 Isaiah 11:1-3 The Well Rev. Ben Barlow - Preacher Series: Fruit of the Spirit "Pentecost" Acts 2 Stuck. Of the many used cars we had while growing up, the one I really loved was a 1973 Buick Centurion we had when I was in high school in the early 1980's. It was loud (we could never keep a muffler on it), it was huge (a land battleship), it had a 455 engine (it went fast) and it had an 8-track tape player (really cool). This was the car that I drove to and from school after I got my license.

5 But one Saturday, I had gone out and on the way home stopped to buy gas at a station about a mile and a half from home. I pumped the gas and then the car wouldn't start. I opened the hood, looked at the battery, tried again and it was still dead. So I went to the pay phone, dialed home to get my dad to come help, but our home phone was busy and it stayed busy (probably my older sister talking to her boyfriend). So I walked home and got my dad to come look at it and right away he diagnosed the problem - I had left the transmission in drive. Well, needless to say I felt really dumb and have never done that one again. So the fix was really easy - I had to put it in park before I could start. There are times in life when we get stuck and we don't always see how to get moving again. When that happens, where do you turn? The first thing is to realize that you are not alone. Sometimes we get stuck because we think we are alone and the weight of life- of the world- is on our shoulders and only our shoulders. The good news is that you are not alone. You have a community - the church - to support one another and encourage one another and above all, remember that Jesus put on human skin to be with us. You are not alone. Then the next part can be the hardest - admitting that you need help. When we can't figure it out, turn to the community and to God in prayer. God really wants to hear from you and God's line is never busy. God will help if you give God a chance. Sometimes the answer is simple, sometimes more complex, but help will come. God loves you, and in a less perfect way, so does the church body. So when life seems to have gotten stuck, take time to park it for a while and then put it in drive.
