Peace United Methodist Church Welcomes You! Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost: August 14, 2016 Our purpose at Peace is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Our New Pastor and His Family Pastor Wiley & Heather Gladney Brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, welcome to worship at Peace. May we rejoice in all our human diversity as we celebrate our oneness as God s children. Peace Plaza: Through the rear left exit of the sanctuary is Peace Plaza where you will find our Hospitality Center which offers coffee, water and snacks. Near the Hospitality Table is our Gift Book Table. We encourage all our guests to visit this table. Children: We love children and welcome them in our Worship Service. Busy Bags are available in the back of the sanctuary for children to use during our worship service. Please return them to the stand after the service. Thank you. We have an attended nursery for children if your child needs a break from Service. Prayer and Care: Prayer Requests may be written on Connect Cards and placed in the Offering Plate. If you know of someone who is seriously ill or in the hospital, please let Pastor Jan at or call the church office ( ). Liam & Ronan He will be here starting September 1 st. 4 THE FOOD PANTRY Our local Food Pantry services hundreds of people on a weekly basis. They get donations from several businesses and people which allow them to buy food and non-perishable items that are then given to needy families. People drop off nonperishable food items either at the site or can drop them off at Shopping News. There is a big bucket just inside the door for donations. The food Pantry is hit hardest in summer months when kids are home from school and again during the holidays. The Food Pantry is open on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00 6:00 p.m. Their location is located at Town & Country Presbyterian Church. Our collection Sunday is the first Sunday of every month, but we will accept donations at any time. Notes I gave my heart to Jesus today. MY NEXT STEP TODAY IS: I will memorize Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) I will attend a Sunday School class or Small Group. I will read Psalm 27. I will start a Bible Reading Program from the Guest Table in Peace Plaza. I d like more information about: Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ. Serving to Peace and Trinity Churches. 5 UPCOMING MISSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES 1. Praise & Prayer Service is held every 2 nd Sunday at 7:00 p.m. with various churches taking part in this ministry. Our August Praise and Prayer service will be held tonight at Grand View Family Worship, right next to the high school. Everyone is invited to attend to pray for our church, our community, our families and our nation. 2. The Food Pantry is looking for more food donations. We have a donation box in Peace Plaza by the chairs for you to place your nonperishable contributions in. Our main collection Sunday is the first of every month but will welcome donations at any time. 3. S.O.U.L. Kitchen is once a month at Church of the Nazarene Outreach Center. This Wednesday will be the next S.O.U.L. Kitchen at 5:00 p.m.. 4. Save the Date! August 28 th will be our annual Corn Boil and Potluck starting at 5:00 p.m. at Judy Shadewald s home (31394 County Hwy TB). Come early, stay late, play games and just relax and visit. 5. Worship in the Park will be Sunday, September 4 th, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Krauskop Park. Look for the tent. Please see the announcements for what we are to bring. There will be a special offering for Lydia s House Ministries. Our van will be running for those from Peace who wish to attend. The schedule will be posted the last two Sundays in the bulletin in August. 6. Save the Date! Peace UMC will be hosting on October Pathways to Prayer. Margie Berger will preach at both churches on Sunday. **We need five homes to house the presenters of the workshop for this weekend. We need three homes to house 2 people each and 2 homes to house 1 person each. If you can help, please contact Pam Peterson-Kings or Paul McManaway. This will be open to all United Methodist Churches throughout Wisconsin and our local churches as well. Please consider participating in these powerful missional outreaches to our community! Announcements 1. For our Worship in the Park on September 4 th, we need two people with a truck to take 50 chairs from Founders Hall to the park and bring them back to church after the picnic. The chairs need to be in there and set up starting at 8:30 a.m. If you can help, please let Joan know. Thank you. 2. Desserts are being requested for those attending the Worship in the Park. Please make sure they are non-bee friendly. No frostings, extra sugar on top, etc. We don t want to attract the bees to our picnic. 3. If you have extra garden produce and don t know what to do with it, please bring it to church on Sunday mornings and put it out on a table for others to purchase. There is a jar with Garden Produce on the side for people to place their money in for the produce they have purchased. There is no set price for the produce, just put in what you feel you would spend at the store. The money raised from the produce will go toward the ramp project. 4. The Ice Cream Social, at Trinity, is a fundraiser for the 2017 Honduras Medical Mission trip. It is this Wednesday from 4:00 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the church. There is a sign-up sheet at Peace for people to sign up to bring pies or to help work. 5. The Ad Council meeting scheduled for the 18 th has been moved to Thursday, August 25 th. 6. We will gather to pray for our community youth on Monday, August 15, from 6:30 7:30 p.m. at Grand View Family Worship. We would like to see if there is interest in having a back to school rally similar to what we did last year on the last Saturday before school starts. Everyone interested in attending, is invited. 7. The old website is still up and running. Carol Kramer is still adding things to it all the time. There are still some bugs to be worked out with the new website. Stay tuned, we ll keep you posted.

You can bring in whatever you would like. We would like the treats brought in around 9:00 a.m. so we can put them out before our Adult Study Groups meet at 9:30 a.m. and the children s Sunday school Classes when the resume. Just bring the in and the Hospitality Ministry will take care of putting them out. And, it is a great way to serve Our Lord. ** Pam Kintz is once again in charge of leading the Community Singers. They will be singing during the offertory. If you are interested in being a part of this fun group, please be at Peace on Wednesday, August 31 st, at 7:00 p.m. You will be singing on Sunday, September 4 th, during Worship in the Park.
