Amén Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, full of compassion and mercy, abounding in steadfast love. Amen. Trusting God s promise of forgiveness, let us confess our sin against God and one another. Silence for reflection and self-examination. Eternal God our creator, in you we live and move and have our being. Look upon us, your children, the work of your hands. Forgive us all our offenses, and cleanse us from proud thoughts and empty desires. By your grace draw us near to you, our refuge and our strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. God s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. Awaken in us a hunger for the food that satisfies both body and spirit, and with this food fill all the starving world; through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. Sit READINGS FROM HOLY SCRIPTURE FIRST READING Isaiah 55:1-5 1 Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. 11 APOSTLES CREED With the whole church, let us confess our faith. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION A Generous, compassionate God, we gather before you to pray for the church, the world, and all in need. A brief silence. A God of the covenant, call your church on earth to worship together to glorify your name in every language and in every land. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A God of abundance who provides fields of wheat and vineyards of grapes, bless farmers and growers who furnish bread and wine for tables of abundance. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A God of all compassion, raise up just leaders who care for the poor and hungry. Let nations share your bounty across the world and assure that no one goes without food. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A God of all, fill those who are starving whether they long for food or companionship. Comfort the lonely and grieving; heal those who are sick in body, mind, or spirit, especially those on our prayer list (see back page). Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer.

Be with sandwich makers and cookie bakers, with those who stock food pantry shelves and those who point out need whether in our neighborhood or half a world away. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. For what else do the people of God pray Bless us as we remember the saints at your everlasting feast until we join them at your bountiful table. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Into your hands we place all our prayers, spoken and unspoken, trusting in the mercy of Christ Jesus. Amen. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Communion will be served by Common Cup and Intinction (dipping your bread into the chalice). 21 THINGS HAPPENING AT CHRIST THE KING FIRST COMMUNION Today we welcome Brenda & Adam Cornutt to the Lord s Table for their first communion. CARE PACKAGES You are invited to help assemble the Homeless Care Packages on Wednesday, August 9 th at 9 am at the church. Coffee and Croissants will be served. Any help will be appreciated. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY One of the ways our church can give comfort to people experiencing difficult health issues is with our Prayer Shawl Ministry. We are in need of people to knit or crochet prayer shawls to keep this ministry going. If you can help with this need, we have instructions available in the pocket on the office door or you can just go online and pick your own pattern. They can be any pattern or color you like. For questions talk to Marge Papke. BIBLE STUDY: Paul s letter to the Romans begins Wednesday, August 9 th, 7 pm. INSTALLATION SERVICE Pastor Dan Heath will be installed today, 3pm, as the new pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, NW Cornell Rd, Beaverton. Everyone welcome. OUTREACH FOOD BARREL Are you aware that there is a barrel in the narthex for non-perishable food items and toiletries? All donations go to the King s Kindness Food Pantry of the Vineyard Church. They distribute food every Thursday to people in our community in need. Thank you for your support with this outreach. GOOD NEIGHBOR CENTER DINNER Can you help with dinners for the Good Neighbor Center?? There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk. Dates still needed are: Friday, Sept. 22 and Friday; November 24. Dinner include main dish, salad/vegetable side/fruit, bread, 1 gallon milk, dessert is optional. There are usually residents staying at the GNC. CTK has participated in the mission for many years and it is very much appreciated by the staff and the residents. Thank you to all you have participated in the past, you work is noticed! Questions? Call Mary Case, COOKIE VOLUNTEERS There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk for volunteers to help provide cookies for coffee fellowship following worship each Sunday. This ministry involves bringing 5-6 dozen cookies (do not need to be homemade), putting the cookies on trays, (available in the kitchen), and taking the cookies on a rolling cart into the Rainbow Room.
