SECOND READING 1 Corinthians 1: The message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart. 20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? 11 APOSTLES CREED With the whole church, let us confess our faith. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

21 THINGS HAPPENING AT CHRIST THE KING CTK ANNUAL MEETING Christ the King s Annual Meeting will be held following worship today in Haven Hall. It is very important that you attend so that you can be aware of all the things that have happened in the past year at CTK and hear about the exciting plans for our church in DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES Here are the Small Groups being held each week that anyone is welcome to join: Monday evening Spiritual Formation group meets at 6pm in the library; Tuesday evenings Discipleship group gather at 7pm to view and discuss a faith-based video in the sanctuary; First Wednesday of the month the women gather for a guided text study; Thursday evenings we gather for Centering Prayer at 5:30pm in the Youth Room; Thursday evenings at 7pm we continue Opening the Book of Faith in the sanctuary. Sunday mornings at 9am a second opportunity to Open the Book of Faith, in the library. SPIRITUAL FORMATION GROUP The Spiritual Formation Group meets on Monday evenings in the church library from 6-7:30 pm. We are starting a new study and it would be a great time to join with us to enrich your personal walk with the Lord. OUTREACH FOOD BARREL Are you aware that there is a barrel in the narthex for non-perishable food items? All donations go to the King s Kindness Food Pantry of the Vineyard Church. They distribute food every Thursday to people in our community in need. Thank you for your support with this outreach. COOKIE VOLUNTEERS There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk for volunteers to help provide cookies for coffee fellowship following worship each Sunday. This ministry involves bringing 5-6 dozen cookies (do not need to be homemade), putting the cookies on trays, (available in the kitchen), and taking the cookies on a rolling cart into the Rainbow Room. Thank you for your help!

When you have a prayer request you may either place a written prayer request in the Prayer Request Box, talk to Pastor Dorothy or contact Jeanne Durbetaki and the prayer chain will be activated. When Prayer requests are given they will be published in the Sunday bulletin and included in the Prayers of the Church for the following three weeks. If you wish to extend the publication of your requests, please call the church office before Thursday of each week. Prayer requests are also added to the Prayer Chain s list and they will remain on the prayer list until an update is received indicating it is appropriate to remove that person s name.
