2 WELCOME TO CHRIST THE KING LUTHERAN CHURCH Welcome to worship! CHRIST IS RISEN! We celebrate the victorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on this Easter morning. May our songs of praise to the Risen Christ fill us all with joy and hope as we worship together. We want to extend a special welcome to our guests and ask that you sign the worship registration slip found in your bulletin with your name, address and phone number, listing any special requests. You may drop it in the offering plate or give it to an usher. Members, please fill out the worship registration with your name so that we have a record of your attendance. You only need to give other details if they have changed recently. Ushers and greeters are available to provide assistance. Communion will be served by Common Cup and Intinction (dipping your bread into the chalice). Gluten-free wafers and non-alcohol grape juice is also offered. Please indicate your preference to those who are serving. Please ask the ushers for direction if you need assistance. All are welcome at the Lord s table. Alleluia! THANKSGIVING FOR BAPTISM Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, the fountain of living water, the rock who gave us birth, our light and our salvation. Amen. Let us come into the light, the revealing and healing light of God. Silence is kept for reflection. God of grace and glory, you have brought us through the night of sin into the light of Jesus resurrection. Yet our lives are still shadowed by sin. Make us alive in Christ, O God. Make us new as you make all things new. Rescue us from evil and the gloom of sin, renew us in grace, and restore us to living in your holiness, through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. Amen. GATHERING Rejoice with all creation around God s throne! The light of the risen Christ puts to flight all evil deeds, washes away sin, restores innocence to the fallen, casts out hate, brings peace, and humbles earthly pride. Jesus Christ loves you and frees you from your sins by his blood. To him be glory and dominion forever and ever! Amen.

I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. 4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! 11 HOLY GOSPEL Matthew 28:1-10 The Holy Gospel according to Matthew the 28 th chapter. Glory to you, O Lord. 1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him. This is my message for you. 8 So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them and said, Greetings! 13 NICENE CREED We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. 14 PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION A Rejoicing in the risen life of Christ, let us pray for the church, the world, and all who are in need. A brief silence. A We pray for the church. Unite all Christians in our shared calling to proclaim the gospel. Raise up women and men to serve as faithful leaders. Make us bold witnesses to the resurrection. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A For the earth. Renew your creation with seasonable weather and growth. Protect plants and animals from the damage of excessive heat or cold, drought or flooding, windstorm or hail. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A For the nations. Bring peace to communities torn apart by warfare. Guide all refugees to safety. Bolster the courage of those who put themselves in danger to preserve the lives of others. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A For those in need. Shelter the homeless. Protect those who suffer abuse or neglect. Befriend the lonely. Give peace to the dying, comfort the bereaved, and heal the sick, especially those on our prayer list (see back page). Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. A For this assembly. Free us from fear, and renew us in faith. Bless the newly baptized, those who seek to know your love, and all who come to your holy table. Lord, in your mercy, C hear our prayer. For what else do the people of God pray... A With thanksgiving, we remember those who have died and all who yearn for the fulfillment of your Easter promise of resurrection and life. 26 THINGS HAPPENING AT CHRIST THE KING EASTER WORSHIP Welcome to worship today! As we gather together with family and friends may we remember, celebrate and participate in Christ s death and resurrection. EASTER LILIES The lilies which grace our sanctuary today have been donated in memory of loved ones and our risen Lord. If you donated an Easter lily, please feel free to take a lily home with you following the service. CTK PRESCHOOL QUILT RAFFLE CTK Preschool will have its Annual Quilt Raffle during the Week of the Young Child, April Tickets will be on sale both Sundays, $2 a ticket and 3 tickets for $5. The winning ticket will be drawn Sunday, April 30 th at the church service. You do not need to be present to win. Proceeds will go to the church Quilt Fund, our CTK Preschool SOS Fund (Support Our Students), and the Oregon Autism Fund (our quilt puzzle pattern is the International Autism Awareness logo). GOOD NEIGHBOR CENTER DINNER Dinners for the Good Neighbor Center are: Friday, May 28, Friday, July 28, Friday Sept. 22 and Friday November 24. Dinner include main dish, salad/vegetable side/fruit, bread, 1 gallon milk, dessert is optional. There are usually residents staying at the GNC. CTK has participated in the mission for many years and it is very much appreciated by the staff and the residents. Thank you to all you have participated in the past, you work is noticed! Questions? Call Mary Case, OUTREACH FOOD BARREL Are you aware that there is a barrel in the narthex for non-perishable food items? All donations go to the King s Kindness Food Pantry of the Vineyard Church. They distribute food every Thursday to people in our community in need. Thank you for your support with this outreach. COOKIE VOLUNTEERS There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk for volunteers to help provide cookies for coffee fellowship following worship each Sunday. This ministry involves bringing 5-6 dozen cookies (do not need to be homemade), putting the cookies on trays, (available in the kitchen), and taking the cookies on a rolling cart into the Rainbow Room. Thank you for your help!
