7 READINGS FROM HOLY SCRIPTURE FIRST READING Isaiah 7: The LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying, 11 Ask a sign of the LORD your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven. 12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I will not put the LORD to the test. 13 Then Isaiah said: Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. HOLY GOSPEL Matthew 1: Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. 11 APOSTLES CREED With the whole church, let us confess our faith. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION A As we anticipate the fullness of the presence of Christ, we join with the church throughout the world, praying for all who are in need. A brief silence. A For the church universal and all servants of the gospel, for poets and artists, for musicians and preachers, and for theologians and teachers; that all proclaim that God is with us in Christ, let us pray. A For all plants and animals, seas and skies, snow and rain, and all of God s marvels; that all of creation grow and thrive as we bless, protect, and use with care what God has made, let us pray. For those who travel near and far, for those who prepare our congregation for worship and celebration, and for those who gather around word and sacrament; that all experience welcome and refreshment, let us pray. Have mercy, O God. For what else do the people of God pray... In thanksgiving for the saints who have died and are now at rest; that the witness of their faith point us to the promises of grace and resurrection in Christ, let us pray. Have mercy, O God. Merciful God, hear the prayers of your people, those spoken aloud and those known only to you, and grant us peace through Jesus Christ, our coming Savior. Amen. 20 THINGS HAPPENING AT CHRIST THE KING JOINT ADVENT SERVICE AND SOUP SUPPER - December 21 Midweek Advent worship will be celebrated jointly with St. James Episcopal Church. Wednesday at noon worship will be at St. James, and Wednesday at 7pm will be at CTK with Soup Supper at 6pm. A sign-up sheet is on the kiosk if you can bring something to share. POINSETTIA S If you would like to donate a poinsettia in memory of a loved one ($8) each, envelopes are available from the poster in the narthex on kiosk. Fill out form and place it in the offering plate. CHRISTMAS SERVICES CTK will celebrate the birth of Christ in festival worship at 9 pm Christmas Eve (Saturday) and the Nativity of our Lord at 9 am on Christmas Day (Sunday). Happy Birthday to the King! OUTREACH FOOD BARREL Are you aware that there is a barrel in the narthex for non-perishable food items? All donations go to the King s Kindness Food Pantry of the Vineyard Church. They distribute food every Thursday to people in our community in need. Thank you for your support with this outreach. COOKIE VOLUNTEERS There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk for volunteers to help provide cookies for coffee fellowship following worship each Sunday. This ministry involves bringing 5-6 dozen cookies (do not need to be homemade), putting the cookies on trays, (available in the kitchen), and taking the cookies on a rolling cart into the Rainbow Room. Thank you for your help!

When you have a prayer request you may either place a written prayer request in the Prayer Request Box, talk to Pastor Dorothy or contact Jeanne Durbetaki and the prayer chain will be activated. When Prayer requests are given they will be published in the Sunday bulletin and included in the Prayers of the Church for the following three weeks. If you wish to extend the publication of your requests, please call the church office before Thursday of each week.
