MESSAGE FROM REV. BRENT POMEROY As I write this we are exactly one month away from the first day of summer which this year falls on June 21. But we know the weather doesn't pay much attention to the calendar. Temperatures have been steadily warming up and our air conditioners have already been cranked up for weeks. Another round of south Texas summer has begun. Although we typically think of summer as being a quieter time around the church, there are still plenty of ways to stay involved. June will be our Vacation Bible School so be sure and get your kids and grandkids registered for all the fun. See the llama in the foyer for a registration form. Also, we need lots of adult help too so consider coming and lending a hand even if you can only be there for part of the time. July churches in the Bluebonnet Area will be going to Port Aransas for a mission trip to help with the ongoing clean-up and recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey that hit the Texas coast last August. There is still time to register if you'd like to go. Forms are available in the foyer. And throughout the summer many of our youth will be heading to camp so keep them in your prayers for a safe, fun and faith-deepening camp experience. I've always felt like summer was a great time of year. Somehow it's more laid-back, more free-spirited and all of that is good for the soul. So let's enjoy our time together. Let's enjoy our work and our worship and give thanks for all the places God has touched our lives. May we continue to enjoy the blessings of the season and the blessings of life. 4 SUMMER CAMP 2018 DATES CYF Conference (finished 9-12th grades) - June Eighter's Camp (finished 8th grade) - June Chi Rho Camp (finished 5th-7th grades) - July Beginner/JRS. Camp (finished 2nd-4th grades) - June Camp registration is now on line. You may put the fee onto your credit card. I am still working out the details on how to attach a 50% scholarship coupon for our members. Meanwhile, please let me know if you wish to sign up. Camp is going to be amazing this year!!!! The link to registration is app.campdoc.com/register/oaks maggie IT IS NOW TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL BUILDING BRIDGES ALL- AGE MISSION TRIP to Aransas Pass, Texas, happening Wednesday, July 11 - Monday, July 16, 2018! Everyone is invited! Youth 6th grade and older may come without a parent. Children 5th grade and younger must bring a parent with them. We will be rebuilding after Hurricane Harvey's destruction. We will need painters, sheet-rockers, kitchen coordinator, safety director, food/menu coordinator, etc. If you can only come for the weekend, that is fine as well. I need a count of how many participants as soon as possible, so please contact me with any questions and your RSVP for this amazing event. Maggie. Christian Youth Fellowship: (CYF-High School) and Chi Rho(6th-8th grades) Sunday meetings are suspended until September. However, we are meeting for a Lock-in, a Schlitterbahn trip, helping with VBS, going on a mission trip, Sunday School, and other things, so stay tuned! Kidtime (4yrs - 5th grade): We meet Wednesdays, 6:00PM-7:00PM through May, then we will have fun with VBS, summer camp, special youth days, and a mission trip! Free Guitar Lessons Wednesdays, 5:30PM-6:00PM continue through May, then we are taking a break for the summer. Keep practicing! Youth-made crosses are still available for sale.
