The power by which anything that will last for eternity is accomplished is through the power of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit convicts men of their need of Christ, points the way to Jesus as Savior, guides us after we are saved, helps us discern the will of God and enlightens us to the Word of God. Again I wish to say that nothing eternal is done through human effort but is only accomplished as the Holy Spirit uses us as we surrender to Him. The Baptist Faith and Messages says: C. God the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service. May is spring cleaning month! It is a time to put away the winter clothes, wash the windows, clean the yard and plant flowers. It is also a good time to clean your spiritual house. How? Take time to study God s word every day and renew your spirit toward Jesus. Cleaning the spiritual house helps reprioritize life and enables a time to refocus on the primary goal - that is to be a Kingdom person for Christ. II Chron. 7:14 If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
