These boys were not academically qualified to study under a Rabbi and pursue religious leadership among the Jews. Reflect on the statement: God doesn t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. What 3 things did Jesus have in mind for these boys? (vs 14-15) What does this passage tell us about God? What do you like about this passage? Read Matthew 14: Peter did something that no one can study for or train to do. What was it and how might this adventure (both good & bad) apply to you? Have you ever been asked to do something you did not understand or know how to do? What did you do in that situation? How do you feel about asking for help? Do you have faith / trust in God? If so, how do know? Once again, the Clara City Ministerial Association will be giving out Thanksgiving baskets and collecting items for the local food shelf. Items for the Thanksgiving baskets must be donated by Nov. 19th and are to be dropped off in the box or the shopping cart in the Narthex. We are requesting, but not limiting the donated items to: stuffing, potato's, evaporated milk, jello, and the following canned items; gravy, vegetables, cranberries, pumpkin, and beans. The city is looking for on-call volunteers to help provide food & service for those helping with emergencies as they occur in our area. We would like one contact person form each church who would be willing to notify their members who are willing to volunteer as on-call. We will be in contact with the contact person as the need for help arises. Thank you for your help...signup on the sheet by Ivy s office. The Haiti Literacy Program is hosting its 4 th annual One Stop Shop fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10am-2pm at the CMCS Event Center in Prinsburg. Bring your family and friends for a variety of shopping opportunities at 20 unique vendors, create a sign with Jenny Groen to take home, purchase homemade soup for lunch, and support this great cause at the same time. We hope to see you there! Envelopes for the New Building Pledge can be found on the table by Ivy s office. Grab the number you would like to pledge to the new building loan and put this envelope in the offering plate any week. The goal is to have all the envelopes in by November 25 th. Make sure the deacons can track you pledge by putting your offering # on the check if that is desired. Thanks!! Todd will be starting a 5-week Bible Study TODAY in the youth room at 7:00 PM. The Devil s Illusions is a bible study about how the devil misdirected us from our faith. This study is based on materials and videos from Harris III, a Christian illusionist. Some of our kids saw him at Power Connection a few years back and he was exciting and fun to watch while giving a message.

4 YOUTH NEWS There will be a short 5-minute teachers meeting in the front South wing of the Church for all Sunday School, Gems & Cadets teachers directly after the service this morning. Thanks!! There will be Gems & Cadets on October 31 st as usual. Meat orders need to be picked up in the church garage on November 2. Proceeds go to offset costs of our winter retreat's. Todd's 6-8 grade Sunday School students remember to study the Lord s Prayer, 10 Commandments, John 3:16, Apostles Creed, and the Books of the Bible. We will be working on them throughout the year. Registered at Target Thank you to everyone who has visited, sent cards, brought food/vegetables, and have prayed for us throughout my breast cancer journey and as I was recovering from surgery. Currently I am over ½ finished with my 6 weeks of radiation treatments. When that is completed, I will begin a third round of chemotherapy. With God s strength and healing, we will make it!
