There have been some changes on the layout. The size of the mechanical room which will house the air handler for the sanctuary had to be increased. This has been an engineering challenge for them, and is the major cause of delay in the project. It was a challenge to get everything out of the basement on grade, and a challenge of coordinating, demolition, temporary hvac and arrival of the new air-handler. With the holidays upon us, we are looking at the asbestos abatement taking place in January, and the demolition at the end of January or early February. Again the main reason is to minimize the need for temporary hvac for the sanctuary. While we are not seeing progress, I want to assure you that progress is being made on the drawings, and details of the building. Our construction committee is continuing to meet with Jaynes and the architects, and then relaying that information to our Building Committee. Highlights from has been a very busy and productive year. There continues to be great

2 excitement as worship and Sunday School attendance increases. Last Sunday, for the Cantata we had over 210 people in worship. We've added thirteen new members (4 by profession of faith), and had nine baptisms. Russ Panzer has done a great job in taking over our youth ministries. We continue to look for ways to reach out into our community through Food Pantry and Bible School. Let us not grow weary in doing good, but keep pressing on and transforming lives. Special Services We have two more Sunday's in this year and several special activities as we wrap up the year. The Live Nativity will be at 6:30 this Sunday. This activity requires lots of workers so talk to Alice Lorang if you would like to help out. Our Christmas Eve Service is always a highlight for me. If you are in town, make plans to join us for this special worship service and bring family and friends (6:00 p.m.). We will sing Christmas carols, hear the Christmas story, celebrate Holy Communion and light candles celebrating the coming of our Savior. "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live selfcontrolled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good." Titus 2: Merry Christmas, Monty Russ's Youth Corner Upcoming Youth For the remainder of the year, we will be having an unusual schedule. There will be no youth on Sunday, December 21. Instead, we will watch and take part in the Live Nativity. There will be combined youth on the 28th, and no Bible Study on New Year's Eve. Hopefully this will be a time of rest and joy with our families and those we love! It's been a great Fall/Winter semester, and I can't wait to start the New Year. We will be finishing up our study of the Gospel and start going deeper into what we believe through a short study of the Apostle's Creed! Bible Study For Bible Study we are still doing a study of The Explicit Gospel. This is a book and video series by Matt Chandler, one of my favorite pastors. It will be a PERFECT supplement to our reading of Mark on Sunday nights, and will be an awesome opportunity if you want to go deeper than what we have on Sunday nights! Bible Study is at 7:00 pm every Wednesday night at my house! 2207 W. Centre! I sure hope you can make it! Mission Trip Its getting closer to time to turn in forms to reserve your spot for Mission Trip!! We will

3 be doing X-Fuge on Mission in Nashville, TN! We will be leaving from the church early on Friday, June 5th and will be returning on Sunday, June 14. This is going to be an amazing trip, as the youth are able to serve in a new city, and in an urban context! We have 15 spots currently for youth who have completed 9th grade through graduating Seniors. If needed we can add more, but I need to have a good count to do that! There are blue release and pink covenant forms outside of Russ's office. If you would like to go, then please get these forms signed and turned into Russ. There is a $50 deposit due by Februrary 1st (though it'd be easier to just turn it in with the initial form), and another $50 due on May 1st. Don't let money be a reason to keep your youth from attending! We have scholarships available as necessary! Please start praying, even now, for the Sr. High as they go out to make Christ's name famous! Also be praying as we plan the Jr. High trip for this year! The Children's Program Thanks to all who made the program a great success. The kids did a great job and the congregation enjoyed the program and heard the Christmas story in a fresh new way. Thank you. Live Nativity Our live nativity will be Sunday, December 21, at 6:30 p.m. Come and bring a friend!

4 Christmas Eve Service Be sure and bring your family and friends we will have communion, light candles, hear the Christmas story, sing Christmas songs and fellowship - Wednesday, December 24-6:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Outreach This Christmas Eve, we are looking for a way to launch out and bless our community. One of the most memorable parts of the Christmas Eve service involves lighting candles and singing "Silent Night," and then resolving to carry the light of the Christ Child out into the world with us. This year, we want to provide a practical way to do that. We are looking for volunteers to agree to bake a dozen or two cookies or small goodies of any kind. We would then ask you to put them in bags or plates of around six and bring them with you to Christmas Eve service. On your way out, grab a bag of goodies and deliver them to someone who is having to work and be away from their families on Christmas Eve night. This could be someone working in a convenience store, Walmart, someone in a nursing home, hospital patients/workers, a service officer of any sort, etc. This doesn't have to take very long, and can be done quickly on your way home, and will be a blessing to all of those who are having to work or be away from family on Christmas Eve. Let's pray that our church can be a blessing and representative of the joy that came down on Christmas! Church Office Hours

5 The church office will be closed Christmas day, Thursday, December 25th and the day after Friday, December 26th. The office will also be closed New Years Day, Thursday, January 1st, Potluck The next potluck will be Sunday, January 4th following worship. Bring your favorite entree and desert to share! Young Adult Bible Study The young adult bible study that meets at the Burnett's home on Thursday nights will resume Thursday, January 15, Contributions for 2014 If you would like to make a contribution to the church and have it show on your 2014 statement we must have it in the church office by noon on December 31, Thank you! Ladies Bereavement Group Dear Pat, Sandi, Sammy & Debbie and others (Cindy), "During a time like this we realize how much our friends and relatives really mean to us... Your expression of sympathy will always be remembered." Our sincere thank you for the delicious meal you all prepared for our family before the service for Daddy (Ed Havins). We all enjoyed it so much - we appreciate your time & kindness doing that for us. We ate & relaxed and visited - so helpful & nice!
