Guided by the Holy Spirit, we are dedicated to living the Gospel through worship, prayer and service to all of God s people. The Church of St. William was started in 1963 by Archbishop Leo Binz who named the parish after his predecessor, Archbishop William Brady. St. William was born in 1085 in Vercelli, Italy. William was a hermit who led a life of solitude, prayer, penance and sharing of faith by founding several religious communities in Italy. It is said that St William performed a miracle by restoring the sight to a blind man. St William died in His feast day is observed on June 25.

2 A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR I would like to thank those who have responded thus far to the new organ and stations of the cross fund. To date, 53 people have donated $36,123. The goal is $75,000. Our parish has registered 650 families so I am sure if more parishioners contribute, we can reach our goal. There will be a special appeal letter and envelope being sent to your homes in hopes more will contribute. There will also be extra envelopes at the entrances to the church. It is a busy time of the year and I understand families have many financial obligations around the holidays. Please do what you can and if not this month, perhaps in January you will be able to contribute. Advent Blessings! CHRISTMAS PLANT / FLOWER MEMORIALS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A Christmas Plant/Flower Memorial for our Worship Space in memory of a loved one, you can do so by sending your donation along with printed name of the person (including the donor s name) to the Parish Office or put in the collection basket at church. Envelopes are available at all the entrances of the church. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY An insert will be published in January 2019 bulletin. Thanks You! SAVE YOUR BOOKS Fr David St. William's Youth Group would like to have a sale of Books/DVD's, CD's and Video Games, but we need your help. Please consider donating your gently used media to our cause. All proceeds will aid our Youth Group's mission trip costs when we head out to Montana next summer. We will start collecting donations first weekend in January. Thank you! Children s Christmas Program All Invited! ANGEL S AWARE! St Michael has called a meeting and you re all invited to see what is happening! Come and hear the Christmas message proclaimed by our children on Wed., Dec. 19 th, starting at 6:30 p.m. Bring your families, and reach out to bring a neighbor who maybe needs a ride! Refreshments served afterwards. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY There will be NO PRAYER SHAWL meeting in December since the 1st Tuesday in January is New Years Day. We will begin again on TUESDAY FEBRUARY 5.. SOCIAL JUSTICE & OUTREACH Outreach Ministry This month the outreach collection is for Immaculate Conception school in Columbia Heights. This school has preschool and kindergarten through 8 th grade classes and serves a diverse student population from the surrounding communities. Many of the students receive tuition assistance. A Giving Tree containing tags listing needed donations is set up in the Gathering Space. If you wish to donate, please take a tag and return the item unwrapped to the collection crib or place it under the tree. Also please continue to donate nonperishable food items for SACA and place them in the blue collection barrel in the Gathering Space. Welcome the Stranger Pope Francis has consistently spoken out to highlight the dignity of immigrants and refugees and he calls on us to stand in solidarity with them. Many are fleeing poverty and violence looking for safety and a better life. Scripture tells us to welcome the stranger and the social teaching of the Church urges us to do so. How to take action? Pray for migrants and refugees. Learn more about what Catholic Social Teaching says about immigration. Get to know an immigrant member of your community. Volunteer to help immigrants-one way is to help with an English as a second language class. Write a note to your legislators to support humane immigration policies.
