Guided by the Holy Spirit, we are dedicated to living the Gospel through worship, prayer and service to all of God s people. The Church of St. William was started in 1963 by Archbishop Leo Binz who named the parish after his predecessor, Archbishop William Brady. St. William was born in 1085 in Vercelli, Italy. William was a hermit who led a life of solitude, prayer, penance and sharing of faith by founding several religious communities in Italy. It is said that St William performed a miracle by restoring the sight to a blind man. St William died in His feast day is observed on June 25.

2 A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR UPCOMING EVENT AT ST. TIMOTHY The Baptismal Font has been drained, cleaned and will not be refilled. Over the years, the font has been experiencing problems with leakage, unsanitary water and corrosion. A Holy Water dispenser has been purchased and is found in the Northeast corner of the church if you would like holy water for home use. When the church is redecorated, a new font will be purchased. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY We next meeting on TUESDAY FEBRUARY 5. Overcoming Hatred The Shoah and the Transmission Memory..listening, educating, and growing into the 21st Century Ken Engel, Chair of CHAIM (Children of Holocaust Survivors Association in Minnesota) Sheriff James Stuart, Anoka County Sunday, January 27, 6:30-8:00 Church of St. Timothy, th Avenue NE Blaine Ken Engel s parents were both survivors of the Holocaust. He will give a short history of his parents experiences before and after the Holocaust, as well as what challenges they encountered when they immigrated to our country. He further talks about how young people today can help to steer their peers into a more positive direction. Sheriff Stuart will share information with the parents on the existence of hate groups and advise the students as to what tools they can use to resist becoming involved in members of such groups. A free will offering will be taken in support of Anoka County s Forensic Department and Jewish Federations of North America, specified for the care of aging Holocaust survivors. St Williams will be collecting Box Tops for Education. Proceeds will be given to suppor t Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Columbia Heights. A collection box is in the Gathering Space or you may bring in to the Parish Office. Thank You! 3 FAITH FORMATION Sunday School Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (Atrium) classes: 8:40-9:40 in Rooms 7 & 8 January 13: 1st, 2nd year - Priests vestments; 3rd year Liturgical calendar GRADES 1 5 Faith Formation Wed., Jan. 9 th Potluck at 5:30 p.m. Faith Formation starts at 6:30 p.m. Children will meet in their classrooms, and parents in the Annex. Bob Bartlett will lead a video and small groups for parents. 6 th -8 th Grade, Confirmation Candidates and PARENTS - Next Class is Wed., Jan. 16 th for parents and youth. Bob Bartlett will speak on Sexuality Having Good Conversations - this event is for parents and youth. It will include time for parents and their children to talk about issues regarding sexuality that are most important to them. Media Collection Gently used video games, DVD s, books, CD s etc. are being collected to be sold on Jan. 13 th at the next Pancake Breakfast. Drop off items in the Gathering Space. Proceeds will support the youth going on the Mission trip and Middle School camps this summer. Youth Sponsored Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale! - Sunday, Jan. 13 th after all Masses! SOCIAL JUSTICE & OUTREACH Outreach Ministry In January we are collecting for Hope 4 Youth, a local nonprofit assisting homeless youth and young adults by providing things like food, clothing and help to find jobs, housing and pursue education. A list of needed items will be available in the Gathering Space collection crib where donations can be left. World Day of Peace January 1 st marked the 52nd observance of World Day of Peace. Pope Francis declared a message that day urging us to advocate for those who are oppressed, disadvantaged and excluded. He emphasized that we must work to ensure that the dignity of all is protected through our political, social and economic systems. Actions we can take-pray for peace and that those who govern look upon their role as one of service to protect the common good of all.
