Guided by the Holy Spirit, we are dedicated to living the Gospel through worship, prayer and service to all of God s people. The Church of St. William was started in 1963 by Archbishop Leo Binz who named the parish after his predecessor, Archbishop William Brady. St. William was born in 1085 in Vercelli, Italy. William was a hermit who led a life of solitude, prayer, penance and sharing of faith by founding several religious communities in Italy. It is said that St William performed a miracle by restoring the sight to a blind man. St William died in His feast day is observed on June 25.

2 A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR A question has been raised if the Stations of the Cross are on the correct wall. In other words, should the stations start on the north wall or on the south wall as they are now. I called the priest in charge of liturgy for the diocese. He said there is no official rubric as to how the stations should be arranged but added that how the stations of the cross are designed would determine which wall to start with station #1. Following his advice, the stations need to be arranged so that the cross is behind Jesus since he is carrying the cross. If the stations were reversed it would have the cross in front of Jesus as they progressed and that would be illogical. Therefore, based on this explanation, the stations are hung correctly. Some have commented that our new organ looks just like the old one. Perhaps that is true. However, the wood is darker. The bench is now adjustable as is the music rack. And there are a host of added features (bells and whistles) that were not found on the old organ. Most importantly, the organ is all new technology as if buying a brand new computer and the voice samplings are all new giving us a much better sound. The new organ is also upgradeable, which was not possible with the old organ. The speakers were upgraded as well. In the end, St. William now has a new organ with the most up to date technology, excellent sound and unlimited features. Because these new organs are built so much better, the life span should be much longer as well. With the formation of the new maintenance committee, the question has been raised as to how we let the committee know something needs repair, replacement or attention. Simply, there are now work request forms in the kitchen, ushers room and at the parish office. When you learn of something that needs attention, fill out a form and leave it at the parish office or in the ushers room at church. Thank you! God bless you! All volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults need to have a background check, sign a Code of Conduct, and attend a seminar about Protecting Children (Vulnerable Adults) and Creating a Safe Environment. Investing in Mission Shares is still available!! SOCIAL JUSTICE Outreach Ministry March is Food Share Month and the focus is on donations for SACA. Flyers in the Gathering Space collection crib and at church entrances list some of the most needed items. You can also make financial donations to SACA-go to to learn more. Justice Issues-Global Hunger About 1 in 9 people around the world lack enough to eat especially in developing countries plagued by conflict, natural disasters and high poverty rates. Take action to help alleviate global hunger. One way is to financially support organizations like Catholic Relief Services. Another way to take action is through advocacy. The US government provides help through foreign assistance programs such as Feed the Future and Food for Peace. Ask your member of Congress to support continued funding for these programs when budget decisions are made. To learn more, go to these websites: Catholic Relief Services and Bread for the World St Williams will be collecting Box Tops for Education.
