Sacrament of Baptism Infant Baptisms take place on the 4th Sunday of each month at 1:30 PM. Prior arrangements are necessary. There is a pre-baptismal program for parents and godparents to assist them in the preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. Please make arrangements with the rectory for an appointment. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Adults who have not been Baptized or have been Baptized in another Christian Community and wish to enter into full communion and adults who have not received the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation, please contact the Rectory for further information. Sacrament of Marriage Couples who are contemplating sharing the Sacrament of Marriage should contact one of the priests one year in advance to insure adequate preparation for this lifelong commitment. Religious Education The education of our youth and the sharing of our heritage is a priority in our parish. We have two Schools to aid our parents in their mission as primary educators of the faith. Classes are held on Sundays after the 9:00 A.M. Mass. Ministry to the Sick The Sacrament of Anointing is available for anyone seriously ill or of advanced age. In an emergency, call the Rectory at any time. Those who are homebound are still a very important part of our parish and the Eucharist will be brought to the home. For nearly 40 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has embodied Catholic social teaching through pursuing justice and upholding the dignity of the human person. CCHD funds community projects led by low-income individuals. As more Americans feel the weight of the economic crisis, CCHD needs your support in next week s Collection more than ever. Thank you for your generosity. Evangelization In today s Gospel, Jesus assures the people that after much tribulation and suffering, there will be a day of the Lord, the day when God comes to save: And then they will see the Son of Man coming in the cloud with great power and glory. Jesus followers expected that day to occur during their lifetime, but by the time Mark is writing (65 AD), those expectations are being revised. Notice that Mark has Jesus say, But of that day or hour, no one knows. Even today, we do not know the day or the hour when we, as people, or even when we as individuals, will meet our Lord. For that reason, we know that we should always be ready. We, too, are called to live in hope and fidelity. Questions to Ponder What words of hope do you find in today s Gospel, in Hebrews, Daniel and the Psalms? Read: Daniel 12:1-3; Hebrews 11:14,18; Psalm 5:8-11. What can you do to prepare for the day of the Lord? In what way have you seen signs of the coming of the Lord? 4

All children from Religious Education Program should be present and bring a non-perishable item for the poor! Thanksgiving Food Collection We thank those who have contributed food throughout the year for the Food Pantry. It is customary that a non-perishable item for the needy be brought to this special Mass (preferably one of the following items): canned foods, paper supplies, cereals, rice, or pasta. All food collected will be distributed to our needy parishioners for Thanksgiving Baskets. These baskets will be distributed from St. Nicholas rectory.
