Every family moving into the Parish is requested to register at the Rectory. Please notify the Rectory of any address change. Sacrament of Baptism Prior arrangements are necessary; please contact the rectory. Infant Baptisms take place on the 4th Sunday of each month at 1:30 pm in church. In preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism, a pre-baptismal program for parents and godparents will take place at 1:30 pm in church at the previous month s baptism. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Adults who have not been Baptized or have been Baptized in another Christian Community and wish to enter into full communion and adults who have not received the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation, please contact the Rectory for further information. Sacrament of Matrimony Couples who are contemplating sharing the Sacrament of Marriage should contact one of the priests one year in advance to insure adequate preparation for this lifelong commitment. Religious Education The education of our youth and the sharing of our heritage is a priority in our parish. Religion classes are not only for the Sacraments but are to help children grow in their faith; religious instruction is continuous. Sacramental Classes (First Eucharist/ Confirmation) are a two-year preparation. Children attend Sunday 9:00 AM Mass with their families; class begins immediately following Mass until 11:30 AM. For more information on St. Anne s Religious Education Program, please contact Sister Alberta Manzo, our D.R.E. Ministry to the Sick The Sacrament of Anointing is available for anyone seriously ill or of advanced age. In an emergency, call the Rectory at any time. Those who are homebound are still a very important part of our parish and the Eucharist will be brought to the home. Please contact the Rectory so arrangements can be made. Summer Basketball Program Rutgers University-Newark will be running its 11th annual Summer BASKETBALL Program for children ages The program is July 9-13, July 23-27, and July 30-August 3, 2012 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The cost for one week is only $160. Discount rates if you attend two or three weeks. 5 St. Anne s Festival Journal Advertisement St. Anne s Festival 2012 is set to take place on July 20, 21, 22, Fifteen years ago, our Parish began a 3-day indoor/outdoor Festival in Honor of our Patroness, St. Anne. The response to this new tradition has been a wonderful combination of social and liturgical activities in an effort to strengthen and build our sense of community! In fact, it has become the most anticipated event of the year. In keeping with our tradition, we will once again be producing a commemorative journal for St. Anne s Festival 2012! The JOURNAL will highlight the different activities during the celebration and contain advertisements and well-wishes (a memoriam, living wishes, birth announcements, congratulatories on graduations, engagements, weddings, special anniversaries, etc) to and from many supporters. Thanks again and God bless! 5 FESTIVAL: SODA AND WATER DONATIONS The Festival Committee 2012 will begin Soda Sunday...and Saturday Nights too! Each weekend beginning June 10th thru July 8th, we re asking parishioners to donate cases of soda (regular or diet) and water to help lower our costs for the festival. With summer here, you re sure to spot great discounts on cases of soda and water at your local supermarket; so when you do, please pick 1 up and drop it off in the church vestibule on your way to Mass during any of our Soda Sundays...and Saturday Nights and we ll keep them on ice for you until the festival! Groups meet year round on the first Wednesday of each month at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Center, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield, and on the third Monday of each month at St. Peter the Apostle Parish Center, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge. There is no preregistration and there is no fee. Note: Due to the 4 th of July holiday, the next meeting date for the group at St. Thomas is Wednesday, July 11 th at 7:00 PM. For further information, please contact the Office of Family Life at or mccormja@rcan.org. 7 Year of Faith Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Rome October 2012 The pilgrimage which is being sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark has been rescheduled to depart from Newark~Liberty International Airport on Thursday, October 18 th and return on Wednesday, October 24 th. Highlights of the program will include the canonizations in Saint Peter s Square by Pope Benedict XVI on October 21 st, of Blesseds Kateri Tekakwitha, Marianne Cope, Pedro Calungson and four others. This once in a lifetime journey will provide sightseeing in Rome, Cascia, Assisi and Florence.
