3 QUIET DAY SATURDAY, MAY 12, 9:30AM - 1PM SANCTUARY Quiet Day includes teaching, quiet solitary time, and sessions of communal silent prayer in the Sanctuary. Participants are welcome to the Sanctuary, to quiet areas for reading or journaling, or to walk our beautiful campus. Come to a Quiet Day for an introduction to what the Contemplative Life at Saint Barnabas might offer you, or to sustain you in that life. Reflections by Jim Clark. Please bring your Bible. All are welcome. MENTAL HEALTH TASK FORCE SUNDAY, MAY 6, 11:40AM SEAN'S PLACE The next Mental Health Task Force meeting will take place on Sunday, May 6 when Jill McMahon will speak on suicide, prevention and its aftermath for survivors. She is employed by La Frontera which provides behavioral health services across Maricopa County for children, adults, and families. She is also a specialist at the Suicide Prevention Center. We will meet in the large room in the education building in Sean's Place after the 10:15 and 10:21 services. Please join us to learn about this important topic. CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE RESURRECTION JESUS SUNDAYS, MAY 6, 13, 20, 9AM HUTTON HALL During the 40 days before the Ascension, the disciples encountered the Risen Lord in various places and times. Interestingly, each Gospel has a distinctly different story to tell about the Risen Lord. We'll dive into the scripture and wonder: what do the Gospels teach us about how to live the New Life of the Resurrected Christ? Concerts on the Desert Presents KEYBOARD VIRTUOSO SATURDAY JUNE 9, 4PM Featuring Jeremy Filsell Washington National Cathedral - Artist in Residence Tickets: saintbarnabas.org/concerts SAGES: SPRING PICNIC THURSDAY, MAY 17, 11:30am HUTTON HALL May is the month when SAGES celebrates Spring and anticipates Summer. It s our annual picnic with hot dogs and yummy summer fixings for everyone. All are welcome. $5. DEACONS CORNER Thank you for your response to the call for SOCKS TO GO! The diocese collected over 1,000 pairs, and nearly 40 volunteers, including 5 from Saint Barnabas, met at St. Vincent de Paul s in downtown Phoenix to bring the Spirit of the Maundy Thursday liturgy into the world. We offered foot washing and a foot clinic to those experiencing homelessness in the area. During our time on site, 180 individuals had their feet washed, cared for, and checked over by nurses and doctors. As each of our 180 guests left, they were given a bag containing four pairs of socks, a water bottle, granola bar, toenail clippers, and emery board. In the words of one man who spoke with an organizer, The foot scrubbing was heaven! The lotion was heaven! These new socks are heaven! -Deacon Sarah & Deacon Susie
