1 LIVING GENEROUSLY June 2-4, 2016 All Saints Episcopal Church Pasadena, California

2 They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and righteous. It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice. For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever. Psalm 112:4-6 (NRSV) Psalm 112 speaks eloquently about the theme of Living Generously. It defines such generous living as being gracious, merciful and righteous. To live in such a way, we are to conduct our lives with justice. Generous living is much more than what we do with our money. We are called to be kind to one another and to all living things. We are called to deal with each other honestly, to be humble. The Episcopal Network for Stewardship is excited about the prospect of holding our Pre-Conference and Conference at All Saints Episcopal Church in beautiful downtown Pasadena, California. All Saints is the largest Episcopal Church west of the Rockies. It is a progressive and generous community of faith. This year s Pre-Conference consists of three panel discussions committed to exploring what generosity means across cultures, ages, and traditions. Our hope is that they will open up conversations to help us transform our congregations into faith communities dedicated to generous living. We open the Conference with a Eucharist with music provided by James Walker, Director of Music for All Saints. The Right Reverend Diane Jardine Bruce, Bishop Suffragan, Diocese of Los Angeles, will preach. We are pleased to have as our Keynote presenters Sister Simone Campbell, author of A Nun on the Bus; The Rev. Jim Clark, rector of Saint Barnabas on the Desert, Scottsdale, Arizona; and Father Gregory Boyle, Founder of Homeboy Industries and author of Tattoos on the Heart. Eight workshops on Friday and Saturday are designed to inform, challenge and engage all in attendance. Finally, our affinity group lunches will provide a chance to learn from one another about what s working and what new opportunities exist to grow the generosity of our congregations. Register now to ensure you are part of this exciting conference. And be sure to reserve at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena ( ; to ensure you have a room next door to the conference site.

3 pre-conference thursday, june 2, 2016 TENS will present three breakthrough panel discussions as our Preconference for stewardship leaders throughout the United States and Canada. The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada are blessed with diverse congregations. Our diversity includes various cultures, ages and traditions, and enriches our worship, our formation and our ministries. Our diversity also challenges how we talk about Scripture, how we celebrate the Eucharist and how or even if we talk about money. The goal of the 2016 Pre-Conference is to engage with each other and learn about generosity across the lines of cultures, generations, and traditions. The three sessions, led by clergy and lay people who have lived the challenges and blessings of our diversity, promise new insights and new opportunities in generosity. 8:00 a.m. Registration Breakfast 8:30 a.m. Session 1 Multicultural Generosity 10:15 a.m. Break What does generosity mean and how is it lived out differently among African-Americans, Latinos, Indigenous Peoples, Asians, Caribbeans, and other cultures within the United States and Canada? This session will present a panel of clergy and lay leaders who have lived and worked in multicultural communities of faith. They will offer their experiences and learning, their blessings and challenges. 10:30 a.m. Session 2 Multigenerational Generosity The Church is changing. Thank God! The generations who believed it was their duty to support their church, which they belonged to since they were children, is giving way to generations who feel less compelled to do what their parents and grandparents did. They give for different reasons and in different ways. This panel will offer insights into ways to engage every generation in the mission and ministry of the Church.

4 12:10 p.m. Noon Eucharist 12:45 p.m. Lunch 2:00 p.m. Session 3 Generosity Across the Divide OK. Let s be honest. Episcopalians and Anglicans are pretty wedded to the traditions in which they first experienced the Church. Some of us grew up in high Anglo-Catholic traditions. Others started off in Low, more Protestant, traditions. Still others have been drawn to a more Evangelical or even Charismatic Anglican or Episcopal Church. In each of those emphases, stewardship and generosity are discussed in different ways. This panel will look at how each part of our Church supports the Church, lives generously and extends our ministry. 3:45 p.m. Conversations on Generosity Across the Lines 5:00 p.m. Reception 6:00 p.m. Dinner & Special Presentation conference friday, june 3, :00 a.m. Registration 8:30 a.m. Breakfast 9:30 a.m. Opening Eucharist The Rt.
