5 If you missed Pledge Sunday, you can still pick up a pledge form at church or have one mailed to you. Moving forward in our financial giving helps everyone grow. Our giving supports our ministry to children, teens, and adults. Our giving reaches out to our neighbors. Our giving supports our beautiful building and grounds. Our building provides a safe space for our worship and fellowship, as well as for community groups. We want all of our members to make a commitment to support the ministry of the church. We want 100% participation. As you consider how you can move forward in your giving, we are not just talking about finances. Please also consider how you can move forward in all areas of your faith and involvement in the life of this church. How can you move forward in service? Prayer? Worship? Study? Challenge yourself to move forward and take responsibility for your place in the life of the church. 6 Potts Hall has member nativities on display. This project was created by Susan Vaughn. Come take a look at all of the beautiful nativity scenes from all over the world! This year s totals are still being tallied as some funds continue to come in. We are happy to announce that the Bazaar raised approximately $5,000 towards Thornwell s Building Families Program. Thank you all! PARKING EVENT Our annual parking event raised $4,833 towards Habitat for Humanity, Men of the Church and International Missions. Thank you to all that contributed to the event! 6 Thanks to Cathy Jansen and Lance Roper for an amazing performance at our Christmas JOY Group last week. Thank you to all that came and brought such delicious food! We will see you in February Many blessings to you. Senior Resources, Inc., a private non-profit organization, serves Richland County. Our church has partnered with them to have our members deliver meals every Thursday. Announcing an exciting new mission coming in January! Senior Resources and Spring Valley Presbyterian Church have developed an agreement to utilize the fantastic SVPC kitchen facilities as a distribution center for 50 clients in Northeast Columbia. They will then receive hot meals five days a week through Meals on Wheels. More information will be presented about this new volunteer opportunity.

8 The Angel Tree has been a tradition for our church for many years. It is a tangible way that we can reach out to our neighbors in need, to bring to life the love that Christ came to Earth to teach us. This year we are supporting the families served by Sistercare and our Building Families Program. The tree contains tags with three different designs. We ask that you first focus on the tags with the holly design, as these are family-specific, each with a code identifying a family and listing their wish list. We are the sole provider for these families. Our goal is to fill their wish lists. There are also tags with items from the generic Sistercare (plain) and Building Families (green stripes) wish lists. We encourage our congregation to choose a tag, or several, from the Angel Tree and purchase Christmas gifts for those in need. Gifts should be new and unwrapped, with the tag(s) attached so that the gifts go to the intended recipient, and should be returned to the church no later than December 14 for delivery to the receiving programs. You may also donate gift bags and wrapping paper if you desire. We will not be doing the wrapping this year for Sistercare. Christmas is a time for traditions; the Angel Tree tradition at SVPC encourages us to remember those in our community who need help and need to know Christ s love. Shopping with your children provides an opportunity to be a role model, to show them God s love in action. May God bless all of us during this season of joy!
