Who will hear this message? All: We will listen and we will hear. Leader: Responding to God s call, Jesus traveled, preaching and teaching all who would listen. Who will hear this message? All: We will listen and we will hear. Leader: The poor, the underestimated, the scared and the marginalized of our communities are speaking out in words and actions. Who will hear this message? All: We will listen and we will hear. vintroit Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Sabaoth. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Gabriel Fauré (1881) vunison Prayer O God, sustain us in the complexity of our humanity. Sustain us and give us strength as we throw stones at giant problems, as we love our friends beyond wisdom, as we dance and worship, sing and contemplate, speak aloud and stand firm. Sustain us and give us strength as we celebrate and mourn for our children, as our hearts break and heal again, as we cry and laugh. We long for the warming of our bones and the hope of your love. Gather with us as we gather together.

3 vthe Lord s Prayer Heavenly Father, heavenly Mother, Holy and blessed is your true name. We pray for your reign of peace to come. We pray that your good will be done. Let heaven and earth become one. Give us this day the bread we need; give it to those who have none. Let forgiveness flow like a river between us, from each one to each one. Lead us to holy innocence beyond the evil of our days come swiftly Mother, Father, come. For yours is the power and the glory and the mercy: Forever your name is All in One. 6 The Lord s Prayer is by Parker J. Palmer. This summer, we are offering different versions of the Lord s Prayer. Worship Credits: The Call to Worship is adapted from UCC Worship Ways; the Unison Prayer is adapted from the Revised Common Lectionary prayers online from Vanderbilt University ( lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/prayers). Chancel Flowers are given in loving memory of Ellen Christiansen Bauer, daughter of Martha Brown and niece of Carol Rippberger. Parents and Families of Our Children: Thank you for bringing your children to church. If you need a place to go with a restless or hungry child, the Parsons Room (next to the library) is available. You and your children can hear the service from there. If You Have a Hope, a Suggestion or a Concern about Plymouth, please contact the Deacons via their address, deacons@plymouth.org. Paula Northwood, Acting Senior Minister Beth A. Faeth, Minister for Congregational Care Daniel Wolpert, Interim Minister Seth Patterson, Director of Spiritual Formation and Theater Philip Brunelle, Organist and Choirmaster Sonja Thompson, Music Associate George Maurer, First Service Music Director

7 Summer Music Series Jazz and classical musicians will be featured at free concerts at 7 p.m. on four Tuesdays in July at Plymouth. Presented by Plymouth s music director Philip Brunelle, the concerts will last 75 minutes. Tell your friends! Free parking is available. July 10 The New Standards: Chan Poling (piano), Steve Roehm (vibes) and John Munson (bass). Sensing a lack of an interesting jazz trio repertoire beyond the usual old standards, they got together originally to play and sing their favorite songs from every era, particularly post-1960s pop music in a stripped-down acoustic setting, making room for solos and arrangements with the freedom of jazz, and yet never fully abandoning the modest soul of pop and rock. July 17 A Leonard Bernstein Spectacular. This year, the amazing Maria Jette, Lisa Drew, Vern Sutton and James Bohn, with Sonja Thompson at the piano, will regale us with the Best of Bernstein! July 24 Tony Ross, acclaimed leader of the Minnesota Orchestra s cello section, performs music of Bach, Britten and Brahms with pianist Mary Jo Gothmann. July 31 The George Maurer Jazz Group mixes just the right proportions of refinement and pizzazz as they play straight-ahead jazz with their trademark lighthearted flair.
