PRAYER OF CONFESSION One: We cannot sing our praise to you, O God, Many: when we dishonor your creation. One: We need you at the center of our lives, Many: that we may sing to you a new song for this new day. One: We make this prayer to you, O God, from the places within our being where a reminder of your love is needed. ASSURANCE OF GRACE When we feel ourselves estranged and far from you God, you are with us. When we forget to sing your praises, you remain faithful to us. You assure us that you have not forgotten us. And by the power of your Holy Spirit you assure us of your promise of forgiveness, mercy and love. HOLY LAND INTEREST MEETING: On December 2 at 11:45 am, West Park UCC (3909 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland) will host an interest session for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in We will present information about itineraries, travel dates and cost estimates. If you have ever had interest in traveling to the Holy Land with a group of like-minded Christians, you are welcome to attend this meeting. There is no obligation to commit at this time. We hope to gauge interest and get a rough estimate of the number of people who would like to participate. PINK ENVELOPE FOR NOVEMBER Strengthen Our Church. The November pink envelope offering helps underwrite West Park UCC s operating budget and outreach ministries. It supports programs for all ages and provides much-needed funds for maintaining our buildings and grounds, which house numerous outreach ministries throughout the year including AA, Al- Anon, Recovery International and Neighbor-Up Night. It also sends the God is Still Speaking Ministry s message of extravagant welcome throughout our neighborhood and beyond. CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS Once again, the Season of Advent is upon us. How we wait with anticipation for the birth of our Savior! Christmas poinsettias add color and beauty to our Sanctuary on Christmas Eve. Please consider honoring a friend or loved one with one. The price remains unchanged at $8.00. Order forms will be available until December 16. Thank you in advance for your order. Thank you, Board of Deacons 160 TH ANNIVERSARY! Next year we will celebrate 160 years since the founding of our church. To kick off our celebrations, we are inviting you to submit photos of you and your family and friends taken at the church. We hope to display these pictures in the narthex during January and February (perhaps a bit longer) to highlight the many memories we all share of our church home. Please submit all photos to the box in the narthex labeled "160th Anniversary Photos." If you wish to have your photo returned, put your name and number on the back. 3RD SUNDAYS In January and February, our 3rd Sunday Adult Education classes will be hands-on. Our Friends from the Turkish American Society of Cleveland will be with us at 11:30 on Sunday, January 20 and Sunday February 17 to offer a demonstration on Turkish cooking and teach us how to prepare a traditional dish. These classes will take place in the kitchen. In order to get an accurate count for supplies, only those registered in advance will be allowed to cook, though others may observe. There is a sign-sheet in the church office. 6
