2 PRELUDE WELCOME AND PASSING OF THE PEACE HYMN I ve Got Peace Like a River vs. 1 BLACK 478 CALL TO WORSHIP: One: I looked over Jordan, that river we all will eventually cross... Many: O Lord, what a vision. One: I could see the saints singing and dancing. I saw grandpa fishing in the sea, I heard grandma humming in the kitchen... Many: O Lord, what a vision. One: There were countless others, all faithful disciples, gathered worshiping... That old man who sang solos in the choir, That young man whose life was cut short... Many: O Lord what a vision. One: But the most amazing thing I saw as I looked over Jordan... Many: Yes? Yes? One: Was the man standing in the shallows, smiling, saying Many: "Welcome home." HYMN For All the Saints BLACK 299 PRAYER OF CONFESSION One: Again and again you call us to care for widows and orphans, to advocate for those in prison, to welcome the strangers. Many: God, we hear your call, but all around us we hear the cry that there is not enough for all, and that some are undeserving. One: Again and again you call us to love you with our whole heart, understanding, and strength; such love demands that we seek justice for those who are oppressed, poor, and forgotten. Many: God, we hear your call, but all around us are competing calls of worldly loyalties, political parties, and public acclaim. One: As we prepare our hearts and minds in these days, at times we forget to observe your statutes of compassion and your ordinances of justice. Many: Again, you remind us to follow you so that it may go well for us, our neighbors, our nation, and our world. 2

3 ASSURANCE OF GRACE One: Hear the word of God for this season and all seasons: Do not be afraid! I will never leave you or forsake you. Know that our God who began a good work in us is able to complete it. As we open ourselves to the Spirit of God, may we see more fully the wonder of God already at work in us. And so it is. Amen. GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. ANTHEM LITANY OF REMEMBRANCE Honoring Saints who have transitioned into eternal life: Lawrence Arnold, Florence M. Boughner, Richard Calabrese, Judith A. Dowell, Launa Flatico-Lynch, Joyce Hrehocik, Michelle J. Russell, Helen Saccone, Rhea Schuster & Richard Guder, Tyler Thompson ONE: O God of grace and glory, today we gather to look back and remember the Saints who have brought us to this time and place, and for those who have gone before us. ONE: In grateful remembrance of our loved ones; spiritual parents and grandparents, children, brothers and sisters, relatives, neighbors and friends. ONE: Today as people of faith, we not only look back and celebrate your presence in our lives but we look forward to the reward and to the tomorrow in which death and crying will be no more. ONE: For keeping us faithful in word and deed; for enabling us to recall the special events shared over the years with loved ones. 3

4 ONE: In grateful tribute to those we have known and loved and who have inspired us; for those whom we shall always hold dear in our hearts and our memories. RECOGNITION OF FIFTY YEAR MEMBERS William Beutel, Janet Beutel, Grace Burgess, Grace Green, Ed Fowler, Trudy Fowler CHILDREN S MESSAGE THE LORD S PRAYER (In Unison) NEW TESTAMENT READING 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 Pew Bible Page 183, NT ONE: Here ends a reading from God s word. ALL: Thanks be to God, who is still speaking. SERMON MISSION MOMENT: Why I Give Kathy Rennette OFFERING DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, Ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In Unison) Thank you, O God, for the gifts of your people. Help us that we rely not on our own understanding in the use of these gifts, but to seek your wisdom. Knowing that as we do, your will be revealed and your people near and far will be blessed. Amen. JOYS AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION PASTORAL PRAYER HYMN Let Us Break Bread Together BLACK 330 4

Please take a moment to donate your gently used (or new!) winter coat to this worthy cause. Thank you in advance for your participation! The Board of Outreach & Growth PINK ENVELOPE FOR NOVEMBER Strengthen Our Church. Here at West Park UCC, we flourish in the warmth of God s love. Here we find welcome, acceptance, and grace. Gathered by God, we grow and serve and are renewed by the fruit of the spirit. Here we discover a gift too great to be kept to ourselves. We want to spread the love beyond the walls of West Park UCC, which is why this month s pink envelope offering is so important. Called Strengthen Our Church, the November pink envelope offering helps underwrite West Park UCC s operating budget and outreach ministries. It supports programs for all ages and provides much-needed funds for maintaining our buildings and grounds, which house numerous outreach ministries throughout the year including AA, Al-Anon, Recovery International, and a local Mood Disorder Support Group. It also sends the God is Still Speaking Ministry s message of extravagant welcome and inclusivity throughout the Kamm s Corner neighborhood and beyond. 6
