By law, they were required to review it. The Building Dept. should issue the permit shortly and the two-day installation will be coordinated to avoid disruption for Creative Play. To date, we have received almost $19,000 in pledges to support this wonderful project. When complete, it should replace about 90% of our former electric use. On a serious note, our budget for the current year has slipped into significant deficit over the summer. As of Sept 1st, we have a deficit of about $33,000. All the programs of Good Shepherd rest on our operating budget. Please prayerfully consider the role Good Shepherd plays in your life, and the lives of family and friends. WELCA The next meeting of WELCA will be on November 6 th, 2018, at 1:30 PM in Fellowship Hall.. Ladies, if you are a member of Good Shepherd, you are a part of WELCA. 4 4 CREATIVE PLAY NEWS October is a fun month filled with many fall activities for the children. Many of the classes are learning about apples, pumpkins and acorns, and are doing various projects. School pictures will be taken in the beginning of the month, as well as a visit from our local firefighters. The children will learn about fire safety and then have the opportunity to climb aboard the big fire trucks. Our puppet committee will be putting on fun puppet shows for the classes. It s always a special day when the children hear stories in a different way, and get to meet the parent voice behind the puppet. The children will also be meeting with Pastor Lena for chapel services, always a nice day to remember how special we all are! 8 8 November is a busy month for the children at Creative Play. This month the parents from our Program Committee will be putting on a short show for the children about the First Thanksgiving. They will learn about how life was for the Native American and Pilgrim children. The children will get to pretend they are on the Mayflower, live in a tepee and play games that the children during those days enjoyed. The parents will be dressed as a Native American or Pilgrim, and visit with the children after the show. Before our break, we will have a Thanksgiving Feast for our children, during which they will be served turkey, potatoes, corn and a dinner roll. The children will wear their child-created Native American headbands, and macaroni necklaces to the feast. They will also bring a special placemat with their turkey handprint. We will have parent volunteers to serve our meal. We are so very thankful for our family, friends, and teachers. We are so blessed to share each day with these wonderful children. Maureen Connolly, Director Dear Good Shepherd Families, We have so many ways for our congregants to participate in the musical life of the church, and we are so grateful for those who have joined us so far!
