This weekend the Archdiocese will take up the Collection for Retired Sisters. Since 1988, the collection has provided needed financial support for religious communities who have served the Archdiocese of Boston as educators and health care and social service providers. Please give generously in recognition of the Sisters years of dedicated service.

3 33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME In a homily about the afterlife, the pastor spoke about the doubts he had when, as a young man, he was trying to figure out the mysteries of God and whether or not heaven really existed. His doubts all but vanished when he attended the viewing of his friend s father. As everyone turned to leave, the wife of the man kissed him and said with great conviction and certainty, Bye for now. Something in her voice and in her tone answered his questions and doubts, assuring him of God s existence and love. That small witness to faith changed his life. In this Gospel, the images that Jesus uses are prophetic images that point to the end of time and the coming of the Lord. We are not told to look for the signs, but rather to have a sense of urgency about what we do and how we live. When it is time and only the Father knows when that will be we will recognize it. There is no need for fear or worry. A life of faith does not allow for complacency, but rather demands an attitude of expectation and attentiveness. Today is the time to act and put into practice what we preach. Tomorrow is not time enough and we have no guarantee that tomorrow will come. Our chance is now. The kids can shop for Christmas presents for their Grandparents, Parents, siblings, etc Parents we need some volunteers to help set and wrap presents. Please call or the Rectory to volunteer. Nov. 18th regular Sunday morning classes Nov. 18th Sunday night teen Mass at Our Lady of Fatima in lieu of classes. Nov. 19 regular Monday classes. Nov. 25th and 26th No classes. The prayer shawl ministry creates and distributes prayer shawls and lap robes to those who are seriously ill and for people who have lost a loved one. Baby blankets are given at the time of the Baptism. Recipients are parishioners, family and friends who are in need of prayer and caring. All are welcome to be a part of this wonderful ministry. 4 NOVENA FOR LIFE Respect. Dignity. Life. These are the hallmarks of our Catholic Faith: the Respect for the Dignity of every Human life, from conception until natural death. Respect for the Dignity of Life at every stage of life, not just at conception, is core to who we are as Catholics. Let s come together to Celebrate Life! The Knights of Columbus would like to invite you to participate in a special Novena for Life. Each Sunday for nine weeks at 8:20 9:00, between the 7:30 and 9:30 Mass, starting Nov. 18, at Our Lady of Fatima Fr. Robert Hurley Hall the Knights will host a Novena for Life followed by a short presentation on various stages of life and what respect and dignity mean for people in that stage of life. 5 CHRISTMAS FLOWER AND DECORATION DONATIONS Donations toward our Christmas flowers and decorations can be made by using the envelopes provided to you in your monthly envelope packets or by using the envelopes at the church entrances. Please print the names of your deceased loved ones on the slip of paper provided. Make sure that you write flowers in the memo section of your check. BROWN BAG LUNCH Wednesday after Thanksgiving at noon, November 28. It will be in the Vigil Room. Bring your own lunch and drink and we ll just spend a little time chatting. All are welcome. YANKEE SWAP CANCELLED It has been agreed that due to the business of the Christmas season, there will not be a Yankee Swap. Instead we re planning a game night in January in the church hall. Details will follow next month.
