3 GAME NIGHT and POTLUCK DINNER St. Anselm will hold game night and a potluck dinner on the following Fridays: April 5th from 6:30-9pm at the church hall. Please bring a dish that is easy like soup, salad, or pasta. No meat on Friday s. We will provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate and pastries. Kids Grade 3 5 must be accompanied by parent and grade 6 to Adult 99+ are welcome. Please bring a game you like to play or we will have some here too! Rummy Cube, Banana Grams, PassWord, BackGammon, Phase Ten. This will be a great night of fun and laughter! Please join us anytime through the night or even just to hang out! All are welcome. SATURDAY, MARCH 30 5:45 PM Cocktails in Church Hall 6:30 PM Dinner at Host s Homes What is Guess Who s Coming to Dinner? This is our most popular event put on by the Adult Social Committee. You sign up to either host 6-8 people in your home for dinner or to come as a guest to someone s home. If you host, you provide the main meal. If you are a guest, you bring either a side dish, salad, or dessert. The best part is that you don t know who will be dining in your home or whose home you will be going to until that evening at the end of the cocktail hour. This is a great way to meet new people, and those who are new to the parish particularly enjoy it. You may dine with old friends or new friends just met. An has been sent with a link to sign up, or contact Kristin Fay at kl.fay3@gmail.com or (evenings/weekends) PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY The prayer shawl ministry creates and distributes prayer shawls and lap robes to those who are seriously ill and for people who have lost a loved one. Baby blankets are given at the time of the Baptism. Recipients are parishioners, family and friends who are in need of prayer and caring. All are welcome to be a part of this wonderful ministry. 4 Recently, several churches have reported parishioners receiving s from scammers pretending to be their priest, requesting help obtaining itune gift cards and/or other cards. At no time will the priest or anyone else request donations via itune or other gift cards, money orders, or wire transfers. This scam, and others like it, have targeted churches and other nonprofits nationwide, and several area parishes have recently been hit. The s are not being sent from an actual church account. They are being sent from newly-created public accounts that are designed to look similar to a church or a priest s private account. If you receive such an , DO NOT REPLY. If you receive this type of request please notify the Sudbury police Dept. EASTER FLOWER AND DECORATION DONATIONS There are envelopes at the entrances of the church for your Easter flower and decoration donations in memory of your loved ones. Please complete the form (print please) with the names of your loved ones and your name as well. Make sure you write decoations in the memo line of your check. 5 CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE For those who have not yet made pledges for this year s Catholic Appeal, forms are available from the rectory or in church. We ask that you consider helping us achieve our goals, both total financial support and participating families. Every pledge is so helpful and important. Even if you already responded to the direct plea from the Archdiocese, completing the pledge card will assure that St Anselm gets credit for your generosity. 6 LUKE AND THE SEASON OF LENT: GOD OF YESTERDAY, TODAY SALVATION HAS COME TO THIS HOME COLLABORATIVE LENTEN MISSION APRIL 8, 9 & 10 We all want to be saved. Jesus enters into the world to be its savior, the one who fulfills God s promise of salvation. Luke presents Jesus as the one through whom God offers this renewal. What does salvation mean? The word means well-being, but in the Scripture it means to deliver people from all types of peril, to be healed, & preserved in health and well being, to help in distress and to rescue. Jesus begins his ministry proclaiming the salvation promised by the prophets, but proclaims it not as coming but as come. In Him and through His word renewal happens. Through the development of our spirituality and the sharing of our time in service we are constantly saved and share that salvation with others. This time of retreat will help us see His love and salvation at work in our lives.
