4 ANNOUNCEMENTS Quilts are hanging. Please go by and pray over them and tie a knot. There are quilts hanging for Haley Wales, Lou Salmi, and Jackie Mockbee. Flowers at the altar. Flowers at the altar are in loving memory of Sterling Penn from by the Scott Penn family. Children s Choir. Our 4 th -6 th Grade children s choir will sing during worship next Sunday, November 25 th. No Wednesday night activities this Wednesday, November 21 st. Crismons. The 2018 Crismon is the Celtic Cross. This is the tenth and final ornament in the series hand made by the Sara Nichols Circle. The sale begins this Sunday, November 18, in the substory. Honor & Memorial Lights. It s that time Forms for Honor and Memorial Lights will be placed on the table at the back of the Sanctuary. Sales begin November 11 and conclude Dec. 1. Give your form to a member of the Sara Nichols Circle or to the address on the form. Lights are $3 each. Ruth Jones Circle. On Monday, November 26 th at 7 PM, Ruth Jones Circle will meet to decorate the church for Christmas. Poinsettias. Ida Bennett Circle will be selling poinsettias to be placed in the church in honor of or in memory of. They are $15 each; they can be purchased from any Ida Bennett Circle member. Forms will be on the table in the back of the sanctuary. Deadline is today, November 18th. Advent Service and Luncheons. Set your calendars for upcoming Advent Luncheons on December 4 th, 11 th, and 18 th at 12 PM. Thanksgiving. Office will be closed on Tuesday, November 20th through the rest of the week of Thanksgiving. If you have not received an e-newsletter, or if you wish to receive future e- newsletters, please complete the sign-up form in the fellowship hall. 5 Ongoing Opportunities Quilting Group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 10:00 am. Mature Years will meet the 1st Wednesday of every month at 2:30. RECORDS UPDATE...Please let the church office know if any changes need to be made to the Concerns of Our Church Family list. Stretching in the Spirit Exercise Class meets every Monday and Wednesday at 8:30 am. We welcome guest trumpeter, Trey Bennett, to our service. Trey lives in Clinton. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Electrical Engineer. He performs regularly with the MS Community Symphonic Band, the Metopolitan Chamber Orchestra, and the Vicksburg Orchestra Society. Join the Canton Music Study Club as we usher in the Season with a Community Christmas Carol Sing. The event will be held in the Henry/Hargon Auditorium of the Madison County Library at 4:00 on Saturday, November 24. MISSION OPPORTUNITIES NOVEMBER COMMUNION OFFERING IN HIS STEPS MINISTRIES In His Steps Ministries (IHS) serves the community of Canton, Mississippi primarily through five programs that focus on prevention, intervention, compassionate services, family services, and sports ministry. Our main program, a preventive afterschool tutoring ministry that focus on the spiritual, physical, academic, social, and emotional needs of twenty at risk children was developed in The objective of the preventive ministry is to give the children the tools needed to become successful adults by tracking them from 2 nd grade through graduation and beyond. The preventive program was expanded to include a Saturday morning reading and science program. An intensive six-week summer enrichment program is also available for local youth whose targeted academic areas of weakness are strengthened to promote a more successful upcoming school term. As an addition to our Preventive Afterschool Enrichment, In His Steps recently started a Lego Robotics Program. This program will help challenge and develop students with STEM subject content as the need for these skills become more and more necessary. Participating students will learn computer programing techniques and create robots to their designs.

6 SECOND SUNDAY HARVEST Grace Episcopal Church partnered with the Mississippi Food Network to provide food to the neediest among us. Grace Food Pantry is open from 10:00am-1:00 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month at Grace. If you would like to provide nonperishable food items to the pantry, please place your donations in the baskets located in the sub-story. ANGEL TREE Please look for upcoming information on our 2018 Angel Tree ministry. Methodist Memories. The Canton (Methodist) church was organized in 1836, the same year the union church building was erected..it is difficult to determine how many Methodist congregations had been brought into active operation in Madison County by this time. Organized congregations were already in existence at Vernon, Sharon, Livingston and Madisonville. At the end of 1836 the churches at Canton and Madisonville were detached from the Madison circuit and placed in charge of Preston Cooper, a former pastor of the circuit.
