Generosity Again this year, OSL partnered with EmBe in the SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM, serving as a site for lunches for children through age 18, Monday through Friday, from the end of the school year through Aug. 17. During that time, some 8,155 free, nutritious lunches were served an average of 167 per day. Thank you for generously allowing OSL s facilities to be used to help kids! THANK YOU for your ongoing financial support of OSL s ministry and mission. Faithful donations of all sizes make possible this ministry that we all share together. Our operating deficit has grown through the summer, despite total expenses being within projections. Let s work together to make up the difference by year-end. Total Revenue...$1,373,350 Total Expenses...$1,427,130 Surplus/(Defi cit)...($53,780) The Board of Finance will continue to update these numbers throughout the rest of the year to keep you informed so that we will meet our goal of fully funding our ministry plan for Service THE CARING FRIENDS PROGRAM expands OSL s visitation program to members who are homebound or in nursing homes or care facilities. How may you participate in this important ministry? Come to the Conference Room on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 11:00 A.M., to find out! Can t make it then? Contact Deb Harlan, , ext. 48, or dharlan@oslchurch.com. THE HARDEST THING ABOUT HOSPITAL VISITATION is finding a parking space. Hospital visitation is an important ministry that lets OSL members know they matter to both God and their church family. Opportunities exist for you to become a Hospital Visitation volunteer! Contact Pr. Tim Lemme, tlemme@oslchurch.com or , ext. 19, or Deb Harlan, dharlan@oslchurch. com or , ext. 48, for information. Learning CONNECTING FAITH AND LIFE (CFL), an adult learning opportunity for those interested in exploring the life of faith and going deeper in their experience of the faith, will continue on Wednesdays, from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., in the Friendship Room, with Pr. Randy. The first course: a seven-week focus on the refugee crisis. Through weekly readings, a brief documentary-style video, guided discussion, and group activities, participants will learn to engage and navigate respectfully what can be a difficult subject, while reflecting on how our Christian faith leads us to respond to the plight of our neighbor in need. Books are available in the Church Office during the week or at the Information Center on Sundays; a $10 donation will help defray the cost of resources.
