May 28 Thy Kingdom Come service of prayer and music at Ripon Cathedral, 3.30pm - more here Vigils held for victims of Manchester terror attack Vigils have been held in Bradford Cathedral, Leeds Minster and Huddersfield, with a vigil at Wakefield Cathedral next Sunday following Monday's Manchester Arena bombing. Bishop Nick's visitation charge - read in full In visits to each of the Episcopal Areas, Bishop Nick has been highlighting the changes that the C of E will be faced with in the coming years. He has just completed the last of the annual Primary Visitations in which churchwardens are formally admitted to office. Read his address in full here Hope for the Estates conference makes an impact Leaders of churches on urban estates have come together from across the diocese for the second 'Hope for the Estates' conference. The aim is to offer a support, share ideas and create an informal network for ordained or lay people involved in mission on urban estates - more here Prayers for Manchester at Kirchentag celebration Prayers have been said for the victims of the Manchester bombing at the opening of the 2017 Kirchentag celebrations in Berlin. Bishop Nick, Bishop Jonathan and Archdeacon Beverley Mason are all speaking at the four day event which will also be attended by former US President Barack Obama. More here MU Worldwide President visits the diocese Lynne Tembey, Worldwide President of the Mothers' Union spent several days last week discovering just a little of what Mothers' Union members support around the diocese. A young mum's baby unit in Wakefield, New Hall prison, midday prayers in Ripon, a branch meeting in Boroughbridge and a conference hearing more about the impact of dementia were just some of the initiatives she explored. More here. Howzat! - Leeds clergy cricketers make strong start The Diocese of Leeds Cricket Team, runners up in the final of last year's Church Times Cup, have made a strong start to the new season. In their first two matches they beat the Diocese of Chester/Liverpool side by 65 runs and, this week, the Diocese of Manchester by 123 runs.
