2 Northeastern Presbyterian Church Fifth Sunday in Lent Welcome to the Northeastern Presbyterian Church! We thank God for this time together! We pray that the grace of God will heal your hurts; that the strength of God will give you courage to face the week before you; that the power of God will prepare your way; and that the peace of God will keep you secure and steady in Christ Jesus. Come, let us follow God s voice, God s word Jesus, the living word of God! *Prayer of Confession One: All: God s Good News One: Many: Announcements If we would see Jesus, we must open our eyes to the ways we have not followed him as disciples. If we want God to create new hearts within us, we must speak of the old ways in which we continue to live. If we seek God's mercy, we must confess all that keeps us from living as God's children. Join me, as we come to the One who will forgive us. O Heart which seeks our own: we yearn for your presence in our lives, yet turn away from you time and again. We want to serve others, but become obsessed with our own desires. We need your Word to fill our emptiness, yet let it be silenced by the noise of our world. Our hearts are clogged with the foolishness of our lives, and often struggle to beat in rhythm with your own. In this silence, and in the depths of our hidden souls, come to us and make us whole. Write grace upon our hearts, so we might be more forgiving people; write mercy on our hearts, so we might become more welcoming people; write hospitality upon our hearts that we might become more like Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who came for all people, even us. Amen. [silence is kept] A new heart, a generous spirit, a fresh start: these are the gifts our God gives to us. Through Christ, we are cleansed; through Christ, we are healed; through Christ, we become new people. Thanks be to God. THE PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN will study Lesson Five: Reconciliation and the Whole Creation and Lesson Six: The Aroma of God Among Us on Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. in the Presbyterian Women room on the third floor of the Education Building. The PWCT will meet after Bible study. Kindly read 2 Corinthians Chapters 2, 5 and 6 in preparation for the discussion. All women are encouraged to attend. STEWARDSHIP CORNER: ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING was established by Christian Churches in response to the devastation of WWII. Since that time an honest effort has been made by PC (USA) in partnership to support countries experiencing natural disaster, extreme hunger and help with personal development. On Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday the Stewardship Committee here at Northeastern is asking that we make honest effort to give generously as a collective witness to Jesus Christ s love for our church and love for the whole world. The subject of the Book of Exodus is redemption- - through the power of God, by means of a deliverer, under the cover of blood. It was written to record the events of Israel's deliverance from slavery in Egypt and contains the Laws that God gave to the Israelites in order to guide them in her relationship with Him. Please join us in studying the Word. WORSHIP AND MUSIC COMMITTE is seeking persons interested in serving as liturgist. If interested, please contact Amanda Sargent, WORSHIP AND MUSIC COMMITTE will be offering Memorial Lilies for sale after each Sunday Worship through March 29, Lilies will cost $13.00 per plant.
