2 Northeastern Presbyterian Church Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost We are thankful for your presence as we share in the worship of God. We pray you will find a blessing of fellowship among us. If you are visiting, please know that no one is really a visitor. This is God s house and all are welcome. We invite you to pray with us, sing with us, rejoice with us, and hear Christ s call with us. You know our frail hearts and our frayed history and now another day begins. O God, help me to believe in beginning and in my beginning again, no matter how often I have failed before. 9 A Litany of the Saints One: Left side: Left side: Left side: Left side: Left side: Left side: One: All: God our Creator, we praise You for the saints: for saints who have gone before us; for saints who are alive today; for saints who are in our midst; for the sainthood in us all. God of Love, we thank You for saints who have loved us for families through whom we were created, the people who first loved us and taught us of Your love: For relatives and friends who responded to our needs; for relatives and friends who needed our love. For matriarchs, patriarchs, prophets, and priests; for disciples, apostles, leaders, and servants. For pastors and missionaries, deacons, trustees and elders; for educators and healers, clerks and cooks. God to whom we come in faith, we thank you for the faith of the saints. For Abraham and Sarah, Mary and Joseph; for Hannah and Elijah, Elizabeth and John. For Martin Luther and Teresa of Avila, John Calvin and Margaret of Navarre. God, whose forgiveness brings us hope, we remember the saints who experienced hope; Jacob and Samuel, Ruth and Naomi, and Augustine. Kagawa and Schweitzer. God, who wants justice and peace in the world, we honor saints whose peaceful ways give us a vision of Your realm: Archbishop Romero and Bishop Tutu. Gandhi and Sojourner Truth, Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Nelson Mandela. God, we are renewed by the courage of the saints of history. We are inspired by the saints who walk among us today. May Your Spirit move each of us to be teachers, healers, preachers, and peacemakers in the world. May we join the great cloud of witnesses in faith. As the saints have heard Your call and claimed their faith, may we also hear Your call and respond faithfully.
