2 Northeastern Presbyterian Church FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER Welcome to Northeastern Presbyterian Church. You are welcome here. Whatever motivation propelled you through our doors this morning... you belong here because you are here, and all that you have and all that you are is welcome here. We come together to meet with God, to express our fellowship in the Lord Jesus, and to take our part in the building of Christ s church. We praise and thank God for goodness towards us, hear from God s Holy Word, and pray for the world, and for ourselves. We build walls around those we don't know, and you tear them down, so they can run wild in the kingdom. Who are we to get in your way, Saving Power, especially in the way of your forgiveness offered to all! Give us your vision that sees everyone as equal - forgiven, graced, loved - even as we seek to follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. 8 Announcements TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: We are studying the Book of Acts on Tuesday mornings. This book is the first written history of the Christian church. The life of the early church is recorded: introduction to the beginning of the church, the church in Jerusalem, the church scattered into Palestine and Syria and the church advancing to the end of the earth. Please join us. LITERARY CLUB Please join us on May 1st for a discussion of Jennifer Bazile s biography The Black Girl Next Door, a coming- of- age memoir. Then, please join us again on June 5th as we discuss The Sisters are Alright: Changing the Broken Narrative of Black Women in America, by Tamara Winfrey Harris. We meet in the Jamison Lounge after service. INTERPRETATION AND STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE (GGC) As stewards in God's Kingdom our thoughts and actions are an extension of us- reaching out to bless our lives, our relationships, and our church family. We also remember to extend our reach to include the community and the world by being generous with our TIME, TALENT and TREASURE and give thanks to God for everything. THE SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMITTEE needs you! The Social Concerns Committee is establishing a donation drive for several selected charities. Each selected month(s), the committee will choose an item(s) of particular need and give the accumulated items to local organizations in need. The item(s) selected for April & May 2016 distribution are washcloths and soap, and the designated organization is the COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS. A donation box has been placed in the Narthex.
